Why Wait Until Christmas

I have started shopping at Aldi over the past few months. It is 35 minutes from my home so I don't get to go that often. But I have doctors and dentists in that town so when I have an appointment I often stop by.
I don't know if you are familiar with Aldi but you have to put a quarter in a slot in order to get a grocery cart. Then when you are all done, you bring the cart back. connect it to a chain and get your quarter back.
Every day as part of my morning prayer I ask God to help me be a blessing to someone else. On my Aldi shopping days, I always try to find someone else to give my cart to when I am done, so they don't have to dig out a quarter, or in case they forget to bring one. It always makes me feel good and I feel like God has helped me bless someone that day, even though it's just in a small way.
One day I gave my cart to a woman and refused to take her quarter. She said, "Oh, they were doing that at Christmas." I wondered to myself, why people don't do that year-round? Why wait until Christmas to do something nice for someone else?
In the book, "A Christmas Carol", Scrooge says at the end that he will try to keep Christmas in his heart all year long. I try to do that also.
Do you keep Christmas in your heart all year long?

I try to keep Christmas in my heart throughout the year since that was the church members have told me.

@Kouponkaren My sister learned from a Bible study session with the Jehovah's Witnesses several years ago.

Oh, okay that makes sense. Are they Jehovah's witnesses now?

No church member has ever told me that, but I am glad you do it as well.

@Kouponkaren We always have nice chats to the check-out chicks too. It might only be a few seconds really but I think we all feel better for it.

Yes, there are. Do you know that even giving a stranger a compliment...like you like their clothing, or they have a nice smile, can stay with them and make them feel good for the rest of the day?

@Kouponkaren That’s really sad. It’s just not the way I grew up.

Yes, it is. I don't think many people do though. They see Christmas as a holiday that is over by the 26th, not as a way of life.

I guess so. I once gave somebody at Aldi a 5.00 coupon book. They were overjoyed.

@snowy22315
Was it a coupon book for Aldis, or somewhere else? That was nice of you.

@Kouponkaren it was a coupon book. Aldi rarely has anything like that.

I try to. When I shopped at Aldi I always gave my cart to someone or left it setting

I always try to be good and kind to people but these days I am more at home alone than out and about,

I am sorry to hear that but you can still help others from home by sending cards or letters or giving someone a call to let you know you are thinking of them.

Ours is a couple of towns away but I definitely make a stop when I can. Let us know what you think when you get there.

That's a smart idea. I used to buy Christmas gifts all year long but then I ran out of places to sore them! I usually start Christmas shopping in September now.

@Kouponkaren That is good. I find I lose track if I start too early
