.....and an update on the washing machine situation!
So, this morning my Mum was writing her shopping list when my step-dad came down with the phone in his hand, saying that British Gas were on the phone but he couldn't hear what the lady was saying (he's a bit deaf!) So my Mum took the phone and started talking to the lady and giving her some information. My step-dad's birthday, and our address and phone number for example. Except she got our phone number wrong and I had to correct her! I said, Mum! Don't you know your own phone number!?
The lady put her on hold while she passed her on to someone else, and there was some pretty music playing. Then my Mum was talking to the other lady and tyen then she told her to hold while she got some details or something. She was waiting for ages and nothing happened and she thought they might have been cut off! My step-dad got a chair from the dining room to sit on while they were waiting.
I got ready to go out to the shop, and Mum gave me her list, Tesco club card, Voucher for the What's On TV magazine and £30. Then I went out to the shop.
I went and posted a letter first, then as I was walking down the street towards the shop there was a tree surgeon with a machine crunching up tree branches and stuff that had been been felled. The tree branches were all over the path, but there was just enough room for me to get passed. I recognised the guy. He's someone who's knocked on our door before plugging his wares! He said Hello, and I waved and carried on.
I didn't really need much from the little Tesco today. I got the TV magazines as usual, then a bounty bar for my step-dad. I treated myself to a soft what I thought was a pink sloth but it turns out to be a pug unicorn! I got some mixed nuts. My Mum wanted mixed nuts and raisins but I could only find a small packet of mixed nuts. I also got a mult-pack of mini cheddars.
Then I got some strawberries and 2 bottles of milk. Mum didn't want any cakes today because she's got plenty of cake in the cupboard they can have. I got some Love, Corn sea salt flavour for me.
Then I went and payed. It was £17 something without club card and voucher, and then with club card and voucher it went down to £15 something.
I started off back home. The tree surgeon was still there and now the tree offcuts were completely covering the path, and the lady who's house it was had to clear a path for me to get passed. The guy asked how my step-dad was and I said He's a bit deaf. And the guy said, What? And I said, He's a bit deaf! And he said How's your Mum and I said She's OK.
When I got home my Mum and step-dad were in exactly the same position as I left them. My Mum said, I think we've been cut off!
I gave my Mum her change, her club card and voucher, and her shopping list. Then I went and unpacked the groceries and put them away.
My Mum decided to phone back the place she'd be on the phone too. She had to explain everything again. Then the lady gave her another number to phone to sort out the insurance and stuff. My step-dad disappeared upstairs and my Mum went to the toilet before she phoned the other place because she said she'd probably want to go in the middle of the conversation! Then she phoned this other place about the insurance. They said they could send some vouchers through the post. But he reckons it's not British Gas that would come with the new washing machine and fit it, and my Mum thought it was. He reckons it's the people from the store that would do that. I'm really confused now. Anyway I think my Mum was getting confused too and she asked if it was OK if she went upstairs to discuss it with my step-dad, so she went upstairs with the phone.
Now my Mum has come down and said that my step-dad was talking to someone on the email and the British Gas people ARE going to come and fit the washing machine and were having exactly the same one as we've got now and it's coming on Friday!
Anyway, at least that's sorted now.
So, what have you been getting up to? Have you been having as exciting a day as we have?!
I hope you are all well.
Have a nice day.

Tell me about it! It's been all go!
Yes, I'm glad we've eventually organised a new washing machine. I just hope it doesn't come when I'm due to come home from town because we'll be getting in each others way as I bring the trolley in through the back door near the downstairs loo where the washing machine is kept!

@sharonelton God love you Shaz..I understand totally, but I think one day, this will change for you. At least you are safe there. Perhaps there is any social club nearby no?
When I was young and living in England (Oxford)..I went to ballroom dance lessons and met a guy there and also went to the Irish Club and danced the night away with friends and met people that way.

Thank you very much. But I don't think it's that great. I don't go out except for shopping and Church. That's why I liked going to art class. I'm amazed I did that on my own steam, because I'm very shy. I'd like someone that I could go out with, maybe to the cinema or shopping further afield. I like to call myself an artist, but I've never been to an art gallery. The only "exhibition" I've been to was that one at Wall Village Hall on 5 August where my own paintings were displayed. I don't feel like I'm living properly. I feel trapped in this house with my Mum and step-dad!

@RebeccasFarm Ah, thank you very much, that is very kind of you. I'm glad you understand. I hope so. Yes, but I don't like going to places like that, at least not on my own.
I'd love to go to ballroom dance classes. I want to learn the waltz so that I can dance the waltz to The Second Waltz by Dimitri Shostakovich as my first dance at my wedding reception (whenever that will be, and to whoever that will be!)

That sounds like a frustrating and upsetting situation but I am glad you got it all straightened out and the washing machine is on the way. Thank you for the suggestion @Gilljane

@sharonton I was at the big Tesco at 8 this morning but I didn’t get very much. Then my solicitor phoned and said the people who we are buying our house off have signed the contract so as soon as we pay the deposit to the solicitor tomorrow we’ll be ready to go and we get the keys at 2pm on Monday. I feel all grown up!

@xFiacre Oh, congratulations! I hope you enjoy your first home!
Way back in 1968 my Mum got her own first home when she got married. Her brother Richard gave her the money for it and it came out of the removal business, Charles Hine & Son. It cost £3,000!

Glad you got your washing machine sorted out. My washing machine is still banging. I tried to wash my clothes yesterday. My mother is supposed to look at it again. I may have to wash my clothes at my great-aunt's house again in a few weeks. We are supposed to go to the grocery store today. I need some strawberries too and some more Tazo tea. I also might get some ear putty earplugs. Chris (my boyfriend) snores. They may help drown out the noise when I use my new earphones.

I'm sorry your washing machine is playing up. My step-dad got an email since, and they might not be coming til Saturday now!
I hope you got everything you wanted when you went to the store, and you got some earplugs to drown out the snoring! I know how irritating snoring can be!

Yes, it was, wasn't it? I hate being on the phone for a long time too, and even listening to my Mum on the phone for a long time is stressful! Unless it was my best friend, of course. I wouldn't mind being on the phone to my best friend for a long time.
