Day 88 John 12:12 The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 took palm branches and went out to meet Him and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ The King of Israel!” 14 Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it as it is written: 15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt.” 16 His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him. 17 Therefore the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness. 18 For this reason the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this sign. 19 The Pharisees, therefore, said among themselves, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!” How do you respond when someone famous comes to your city or town? Do you want to see him? Do you make a special welcome for that person? Jesus went to Jerusalem. When He got there, someone provided a donkey’s colt for Him to sit on and waved palm branches crying out Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD! The King of Israel! The people proclaimed His deity as the King of Israel. It was only later the disciples realized Jesus fulfilled one of the prophecies about Him. However, the Pharisees weren’t happy and plotted to kill Him. As Christians, do you always know why you do something? Do you act on impulse regarding your faith in Jesus? Or do you think everything through and then act? When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the people acted on impulse. Their proclamation made the Pharisees angry. Yet did they pay attention to what they proclaimed? You would think not as just a few days later, they would condemn their King to death on the cross. However, God knew Scripture needed fulfillment. He didn’t leave out one prophecy concerning Jesus. He fulfilled every promise from the first given to Adam and Eve in the Garden, to this one found in Zechariah. Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey. Without realizing it, the people fulfilled God’s prophecy about His Son when they praised and blessed Him as Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey’s colt. The Pharisees were angry by the people’s reaction to Jesus and said the whole world would go after Him. Even this has seen fulfillment as the world has gone after Jesus and many people believe in Him every day. What have you done for God without realizing it until later? How have you honored and blessed Jesus by your actions? Have you proclaimed Him King of your life? Everything the people did in blessing and praising God was for a reason. They didn’t know it, but God did. Examine your life. See how you bless and praise God by your actions. Let’s pray: Father, let me bless and praise You every day in everything I do, even when I don’t realize I’m doing it. Let my praise rise to heaven and bless You, my King, and my God. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 12 October 2023 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

It still surprises me that God's own chosen race, the Jews, rejected Jesus. We should not make the same mistake, but keep praising his presence in our lives, rather than ever turn our backs on him, and block his presence then, instead.

Yes, it surprises me too. However, Isaiah prophesied that they would reject Him. Their rejection gives Gentiles, us, the opportunity to accept Him. There will come a day when His chosen people will accept Him. I agree. We need to keep praising and blessing Him.

@innertalks Yes, Adam is in God's chosen race because Abraham is descended from Adam, in direct lineage. You can trace Jesus' lineage back to Adam.

@just4him Yes, everyone is given the same chance to accept God as their God now. Even before this though, non-Jews were accepted sometimes by God, and helped God by living usefully helpful lives for God. I wonder if the first man Adam, was a part of God's chosen race, the Jews, or if this race was chosen, after that, for some reason of God's. I think the Jewish race began from Abraham. It means that God must have had some reason at that time, to choose a chosen race for him to work with, and through. Perhaps God wanted an example race, for the rest of us to try to follow too.
