What I'm Reading this Week: Cancer Schmancer

The book Cancer Shmancer was written by Fran Drescher. You may know her from the TV show The Nanny. She had uterine cancer and had surgery in the year 2000. She is fine now and I am really enjoying the book because she brings her sense of humor into it periodically. Sometimes I actually laugh out loud while I am reading it. It was published in 2003, a few years after she had her first husband divorced. The only trouble with reading a book this old is that at the time she was dating a man who really helped her through the cancer chapter in her life, but she isn't dating him anymore, and in 2014 was linked to a relationship with a doctor. That made me sad because the man she was dating back when she had cancer was really good to her, and they seemed very much in love. What are you reading this week?

I read that book a few years after it was first released. What an impressive woman she is! I too was bummed when she ended up no longer being with the great guy who helped her through her cancer journey. I actually have the first two seasons of The Nanny on DVD!

I can understand your feeling about this. It would seem very sad to me. We've lost Vince's sister and a niece to uterine cancer.

I never watched her show. Glad you are enjoying her book. She seems like a nice person. I wonder the reason she the fellow who helped her through the cancer stage didn't last. Funny because I know a couple who had something similar happen. Before they married he stuck by her side, every treatment. When she went into remission, they married and about a year after the marriage they divorced.

No books at the moment. We'll, I recently bought four, but I'm saving them for when I'm recovering from foot surgery. Ever the optimist.
