I'm painting a kitty cat at the moment

I'm painting a kitty cat at the moment in watercolour. Well, as you can see from the picture, I've done the background and the eyes so far. To my eyes the background doesn't look very good. It's not surprising, I'm not very good at backgrounds. Either that or I wasn't concentrating properly. I was watching a YouTube video on how to do it, but maybe I wasn't concentrating properly on that either. The blue where the whiskers are, and in the ears is masking fluid that I put on to save the bits of the paper that I want to stay white. I had a bit of trouble with the eyes. I managed to do the lighter colours OK, but when I came to do the dark bit of the pupil the paint spread in a great glob, and I had to dab it off again with paper towels. It might have been because the eye was still wet. Anyway I found a smaller brush, not that the one I'd be using before was big, but with this smaller brush I managed to do the pupil without it spreading, and I did the outside of the eye. Then I did the dark bit of his mouth. So, now I'm waiting for the paint to dry, before I do the main body of the cat. I'm going to try not to overwork it, as I'm prone to do, you can probably tell! I'll be going to the shop again first before I finish it. I suppose I'd better get ready then. My Mum and step-dad are back from luncheon club. I need to get out of my painting blouse before I go out. Oh, and by the way, the plumber still hasn't come! What have you lot been getting up to? I hope you are all well.
