If You Could Eliminate One Thing...

Earlier I read elsewhere, "if you could eliminate one thing from the world, what would it be" and my answer was, wickedness. I would love for everything to be sunshine, roses, and unicorn kisses. Sadly, given the fallen nature of humanity, wickedness rears it's ugly head quite often. We've seen it going as far back as Cain slaying Abel, etc. I don't want to write a novel length post here, but how would you answer the question presented?

I think wickedness would be my choice too, but if I picked something different from you, I would say all forms of dementia. I still clearly remember when my 46 year old mother was diagnosed with dementia, and her almost nine year battle with it. So while I’d prefer all sin and wickedness be gone, I’d selfishly want to put that up there too.

@AmbiePam dementia is rough on anyone at any age, but 46 is pretty early to be diagnosed with it, I'm sorry for your mother.

Wars which do nothing but destroy countries and kill men, women and children.

You are so right, Judy. I often think about the line from the movie, Gone With The Wind--when Ashley Wilkes said his quote on war, right before the Civil War started. ''Most of the miseries of the world were caused by wars. And when the wars were over, no one ever knew what they were about.'' From just a movie line, he pretty much summed it up. The miseries of war stay with us forever. They alter our world, and in the end, accomplish nothing.

I wish we could eliminate sin. But that's part of who we are and only faith in Jesus Christ can help us overcome sin.

I would agree with you. The world is in a sorry state. Another thing I would eliminate would be polluters. Soon we won't be able to live on this planet if we keep polluting it.

I would eliminate greed. I think that would prevent a lot of misery be it on a personal or even global scale.

There are a lot of things I would eliminate if I had the money and power to do so. War, hate, racism, neglect, abuse...I could go on and on, but that's enough. It's best to try to remain positive and optimistic, and keep hope alive, no matter what. We owe that to our children, at least, I think I do.

@jnrdutton Life is hard enough without being negative about everything. What kind of a future and we hope for our children to have, if we can't remain as positive as possible? If we teach them all negativity, that's what we will have--a negative child that turns in to a negative, probably angry, adult. I don't pretend to know everything, I only know what works for me. If we don't have hope, we don't have anything at all to give to them.

I could agree with you wickedness...there are wicked snakes around this way I'd like to see disappear. I would also banish ill health.
