Recently I read that several jobs are going to soon be taken by artificial intelligence. We already have automated phone business, self-grocery transactions and there are probably many more. But, before long there is a high probability that the following jobs may be done by AI: truck driving, delivery driver, receptionist, secretary, fast food cook, fast food worker, freight movers, bookkeepers, and office clerks. And, some at less risk are mechanic supervisors, management analysts, HVAC installers, carpenters, secondary school teachers, construction supervisors, elementary school teachers, registered nurses, electricians, and even police officers.
What will the people doing those jobs do then? AI is rather intimidating.

Ai has a long way to go. And, you know that it's only as intelligent as the info we've fed them. Self-checkout doesn't completely replace in-person checkout. self-checkout also has an employee on standby to help people with it, or bypass things. So, I wouldn't worry about that. trained medical and ems staff will still be needed. AI nurses might help speed things along by doing basic treiage, but you still need physical nurses to do other things. The list goes on.

To me the companies that utilize AI tell me they care nothing about having a customer connection. It's rather sad.

@celticeagle And sad that so many are blind to it, thinking it is a GOOD thing! Nope, it is not!!

I read years ago that they had invented a robot to cut peoples hair and at the time I was working in hairdressing. I was so mad about that. But that I know of, it hasn't taken over ..yet.

That is a good question since if robots were to take over the world of work, we humans will be sad since we all need to work to keep us moving.

And there are only so many small businesses a community can handle.

I don't think AI can do a proper job of a lot of those listed. They might find out they're like the driverless cars. Have a good week.

@celticeagle You can never replace a good customer service person. People with complaints want to talk to a REAL person.

Greedy people have always outsourced jobs to where they pay the lowest they can get away with. so AI is just the latest way for them to cut their costs and increase their profits.

But how much profits will they see when they have to keep upgrading the AIs?

Kill AI!!! It's killing jobs. Can't even get a paper route these days as the papers are all going online instead of print.

I am terrified by the way the world is going. Even if they discovered what to do with jobless people as money goes, a person must do something so that his life has a meaning.

That's true. I think the percentage of crime will go up a lot too.

I don't know that I'd want to eat food prepared by an AI cook.
