Last week's dinner out

Last week, I went to dinner with my friend (we usually go every week when he’s off). We went to Cracker Barrel, a southern-US-themed restaurant with plenty of home-style country recipes. I had the chicken and dumplin’s with country green beans, both of which are very much like what I grew up eating. We called the dumplin’s “pot pie” like the Pennsylvania Amish do with the chicken on the side. It is NOT a pie with a crust. Instead the dough is cut into strips or squares and dropped into the boiling stock. Cracker Barrel serves the chicken and dumplin’s together, one on top of the other. My friend got their pot roast with green beans and macaroni n cheese. They also bring biscuits and corn bread to the table. I had an unsweetened ice tea as well (with artificial sweetener because I do like it sweet - just not with sugar). He said his beef was excellent. I already knew the beans and macaroni were good. No leftovers with this meal, though.

@jerzgirl It's nuts everywhere. I paid $8 a few weeks ago for a simple mushroom and Swiss burger at Hardees. And that was without anything else to go with it. lol
