A man who was aboard a 31 foot sailboat that ran around near the Charleston Harbor in South Carolina on Thursday evening called the United States Coast Guard (USCG) officers for help since his sailboat was taking on water when the boat ran aground near the north jetty. The USCG received the call for help from the man aboard the sailboat and they sent a swimmer from the South Charleston station to see if the swimmer could rescue the man aboard the sailboat/ When the swimmer that the USCG could not rescue the man aboard the sailboat, the USCG sent a helicopter to rescue the man aboard the sailboat and take him to the Charleston Executive Airport in John's Island where the man aboard the sailboat was fine after being rescued. The owner of the sailboat will cooperate with the authorities to salvage his boat. Link is msn.com/en-us/news/us/...

Glad the man was rescued, I have long thought people should not go sailing alone and always make sure they have a way to call for help if anything happens,

That is very true that sailors should never go by themselves in the ocean.

@Deepizzaguy Indeed they should be accompanied by some other people for the sake of any emergencies

@Treborika I am in agreement with you that persons who go on boat trips need to work with another person in the seas.

He kind of has to corporate if wants to remain in good standings, but yeah USCG is no joke, no one talks smack about them because all they do is try to save people with no judgement. Its a rare thing but at same time have to be careful because if you not being honest they will be a problem.

The guy that swam out to rescue the man on the boat must be a strong swimmer.

@Deepizzaguy He’d have to be strong to attempt such a long rough swim.

Perhaps, the coast guard didn't want to get too close in their own vessel, as it might have run aground then too. I hope the man doesn't later get a bill for the rescue..... Here Air Ambulance rescue is not free, but could cost those without insurance thousands of dollars. I have heard reports of lost hikers in America, having to pay back their rescuer's expenses too.

I have the same feeling too. Sailing alone on the seas can be such daring

That's quite credible job for the USCG. Saving life was such a noble action to have done
