Bits and Pieces

I had a goal to be more positive and was working on that for about a year. I am doing better. Now I have moved on to loving myself. Learning more about myself and being able to love myself. Doing that means looking back over my life and seeing some dumb things I've done, bad decisions, etc. I have to forgive myself and by doing that I like myself more and am well on the way to really loving myself.
Can you admit that there is something in your life that you can't have because you feel you don't deserve it? You don't have the ability or the drive perhaps? A dream or a goal you can't reach? Is there something you don't want to start, continue, or finish because you are afraid to?
PTSD- (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)Whoa! It was August of 1996 when I was finally able to escape my ex. My granddaughter, daughter and I left with just a few articles of clothing and moved into a small two-bedroom apartment. The PTSD was horrible. Each and every time there was a knock on the door it would trigger me and I would dash to the other side of the house and crouch down shaking until I was sure it wasn't him. This continued for years. The severity began to decline after 4-5 years. I have recently read some on the subject and, psychiatrists have found that these traumatic events should be labeled as an injury. It is far more serious than was previously thought.
All of these negative bits and pieces of what makes each of us who we are has to be dismantled, dislodged, and scraped out of our psyches. It's a job. I am still a work in progress.

At times, it is easy to talk about being positive.
However, it is tough to take action in reality.
It takes courage and mind control to get into a more positive frame of mind.
Of course, there are things in my life, for which I need more time to reach the goals.
Could be lack of Drive or proper implementation.
Yet I think that we can always regroup ourselves, rejuvenate to try and attain something again.
You have been through some very tough times and my wishes are with you.

It is tough sometimes but I am trying. With extreme depression, it can be tough but I am trying. Lack of drive is a big one for me. We must both of us keep trying though.

Yes very much so. In this respect, I think Mylot provides a good means of discussing a few things which we might not do offline.

The negative bits and pieces still haunt me at times . . . but I try to convince myself that these things are in the past . . . we have to learn from it and find ways to move forward. I know it's not so easily done. Count me in as work in progress too. Let's feel great about those moments when we know we've come so far and know things are going to be ok

I have to do a lot of convincing at times myself. Your last sentence says it all I think.

I suffer from anxiety and if all goes as it should in my life I can control things but if anything happens unforeseen my anxiety heads up into the red zone and then I have trouble getting ahold of myself, Thank heavens it hasn't happened in a long time, I always force myself to think positively.

Same with me. Remembering to breathe deep and full seems to help me. I also have some pills for back up but I hate to have to take them.

I know what you mean since learning to like ourselves like we are and try to be positive and work hard to reach our goals in life.

I'm glad you are overcoming your fears and insecurities. I'm still a work in progress too! The biggest problem I have is not forgiving myself for a big mistake I made decades ago. Have a great day.

Thank you. I am too. I think we all have that one thing we could have done better in the past. You are not the lone ranger.
