What happened to truth in the news?

Good day to you all, Hope you all are having a good one. I was just checking out the local weather report and it kills me just how miss leading any news is now. The headline reads “Heavy Snow to hit ….” Sorry, leaving out the name of my town. So, I of course read it and the article goes on to say how this could be the first significant snow we see this season. The article goes on and on about typical snow we see in a season, the record lows and highs and there in the last paragraph it finally tells me that we should see snow just before midnight through till about noon tomorrow. From 2-3am we should see heavy snow with a total of 1-3 inches of snow by noon tomorrow. Wait, heavy snow is now just 1-3 inches of snow? I understand if I lived in a place like the Florida Keys, but I live in Wisconsin. 1-3 inches of snow I don’t even bother shoveling that, it will melt away in no time. Anything to get you to read/watch their news. Who cares if there is truth to the story or we just make it sound good. It doesn’t have to be truthful in anyway as long as they get eyes on their product.

Journalism use to be respectable but now it their opinions and stretching of the truth to get our attention. I don't watch news. I can glance at headlines and form my own conclusions, I don't need them to do it for me.

I agree, I don't watch the news on TV but I will glance and headlines on the internet and see if there is anything worth reading. Usually, nothing good.

We laugh about it down here in Florida too. The weather reports will paint a picture of impending doom and that we should all tune in and be prepared to act for the disaster that is about to unfold, only to find out that they’re talking about a typical afternoon thunderstorm that we get every day.

LOL, yeah sounds about right. We did get about 2 inches of snow and well that is nothing up here.

@Bensen32 We would have shut down the entire state of Florida with that much snow.

It is also the same thing here. We thought a heavy typhoon but not it happened.

So true, it's all about who gets the story out first doesn't matter if it is true or not.

I find it it amusing that even the weather can be "sensationalized."

Right, can you just tell me what it's going to be like outside without trying to overstate it and sell it.

Mostly me too unless I happen to catch it like on break or something. I don't go out of the way to watch it that is for sure.

I go into stories like that all the time and the title has nothing to do with the story.
