He was a writer, scientist, inventor, statesman, diplomat, printer, publisher, and political philosopher.
In 1968 Benjamin Franklin was inducted posthumously into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. His various inventions were mentioned in the citation which made swimming more efficient, his role in popularizing swimming in the Western world, and, his achievements as an exceptional swimmer. When he was 11 he invented the first pair of swim fins.
Here is a short list of some of his inventions:
* Bifocals
* Franklin stove
* Lightning rod
* Flexible catheter
* Long arm(a reaching device)
* Glass armonica
* American political cartooning
* The odometer
* Streetlamps
84 years of accomplishments. What a mind.

I did know that Benjamin Franklin invented the fins for swimming since I knew about his lightning rod discovery.

Some people are just over-achievers, leaving nothing for the rest of us to accomplish in life...
But I'm glad he came up with a flexible catheter.
