Delivery Drivers

United States
November 26, 2023 4:36am CST
I saw on the news last night about the sufferings of delivery drivers, they would go to a home and deliver a package, and in returning to their trucks, they helplessly watched as it was being stolen. The news showed one driver bring held at gun point. The cases of smash and grab is nearly enough to make you not want to go to the store. I feel for the drivers just trying to make a living. A lot of people won't get packages this year. So sad to even that such a thing like this even exists.

Hearing these stories makes me wonder why anyone would even try to be a delivery person or do Uber or Lyft.

I know, I'm sure this will cause a grave impact on the industry. I just couldn't do it.

Why are they watching helplessy when they could be calling the police? They could give a description or take some video.

@popciclecold I think it depends alot on where you live. I couldn't even imagine something like that happening in this area. I don't like to give people a bad impression of our country, they hear enough on the news..and the majority of the US doesn't deal with these kinds of problems, at least not all the time. I couldn't imagine this happening here or where my sis or parents live either, even friend who lives near a major city.. Although people have broken into cars a time or two so I hear where they live.. I know in big cities things like you describe could happen, but in rural areas you are much less likely to see that kind of thing.

It's truly disheartening to hear about the challenges that delivery drivers are facing, especially with the rise in theft incidents. It's a reminder for all of us to be vigilant and look out for one another.

I've been watching on the US News and it seems like these gangs can overwhelm the drivers and shops staff and begone before the police can intervene or even turn up in large enough numbers

Exactly. I sure hope I'm never in a store when that happens.

@popciclecold Very true, you'd probably be lucky to get away with just being knocked over

No, but from the looks of it won't be long. This is in big cities. I live in a very small rural town.
