Does buying cheaper brands really save money?

The reason I asked this, is because it seems whenever I buy cheaper brands, the item I’m buying doesn’t last as long or comes with less quantity, so it seems like I’m just buying it more often. And not really saving any money because I’m buying it more.

The charger from Daiso doesn't last a year haha. I cannot count how many times we bought.

That is true if we combine all the expenses while buying cheaper things it may result to expenses into buying branded one. I prefer the branded one mostly.

I think it's mostly in your head but yes some do have less amount in them which you can see when you are actually in a store and can price the differences.
Most cheaper brands just use the store name but are the same things as the brand name itself. Same size, same quality but if you going through a third party like for some of those app stores you might not get a brand name under their own name. They might have bought straight from the product maker and depending on how long it takes them to get it will change the self-time.

While cheaper brands may seem like a cost-effective choice initially, the trade-off often comes in terms of quality and durability.
In many cases, spending a little more upfront on a higher-quality product can save me money in the long run, as I won't need to replace it as frequently. It's like making an investment in something that will stand the test of time.
Example: Phone, Computer, Bag and Running Shoes.

I think it does actually save money and think the idea that "things last less time" if you bought the cheaper version is something that is more perception than reality.
I buy cheap things. They last how long they last. When I hear people talk about their expensive items? They have just as many problems. They just THINK they last longer. And of course, that's what gets marketed.
I don't think it is actually true that paying more means things last longer. It just means you will think they do. But you can always pay more and test out the theory. lol
When you buy something cheaper your mind asks the wrong question. Instead of asking, "How long SHOULD this last?" they ask, "Shouldn't this have lasted longer?"

When it comes to food items, of course the cheaper brands are just as good, or close enough (most of the time). However, when it comes to electronics, I’m not buying the cheapest brand, because like you said, it doesn’t last as long, and you end up spending more money. In other things, it is a mix of success for me. Eight years ago I bought a new couch, for cheap. It is still in awesome shape, still in style, and there is not a thing different than the first day I got it. I can’t believe it was so cheap, has lasted so long; plus it is very comfortable.
