Does AI Read our Thoughts?

My phone rang late at night. My friend and I often call each other late. I picked it up and she asked why I was calling. No, you called me, I told her. Neither one of us placed the call. The phone just rang for both of us. We can not figure that out. Does the phone system work on AI now? Does it read our thoughts? We were each thinking of each other when the phone rang. This has happened before and it is scary. Is AI intruding itself into our lives?

lots of tech these days listen in our us and also observe patterns so if it happens pretty regularly and your phone has the thing on that analyzes your activities it can see a pattern and work with this. Most smartphones have these on the device that you can turn off. Mine is off of course. No they are not reading minds AI can't read thoughts but they can look at statics and behavior over a given time to give out and use that to make and guess.

Thanks for this explanation. That sounds very credible.

@JudyEv I pay attention to my updates and what they are about. It also helps that I have a very into-tech husband. We turned off a bunch of stuff on our oldest smartphone for that reason also most of our Apple products have certain functions that are turned off.

Even that is scary to me. Who knows who can access that kind of information from your activities? I know the government can spy on you, but I am harmless, sitting here in a sweat suit trying to make $5 a month. Life can be scary.

You have entered the Twilight Zone. I hope AI isn't taking charge of our lives like that.

I guess we could disconnect from everything and hide in our rooms. Or, we face the Twilight Zone with unknown horrors and delights. Who knows?

@just4him I lived most of my life without the internet, and smartphones, and even lived years with no in-house phone or TV. It was much more peaceful and serene. I hid in my room for years reading. I also typed up my and my brother's stories to send to publications. He got the big bucks for his stories. I almost gave up on myself. There is life away from technology.

@akalinus Disconnecting might be the answer to reboot our lives.

Even if there is a reasonable explanation, I don't like it when these things happen.

I agree with you. It is the sort of thing that made "The Twilight Zone" scary and popular. It is like we are already there.

That is a good question if AI is working on our telephone conversations since I have yet to go through that experience.

@akalinus I have heard the horror stories that mankind will deal with AI being our worst enemy one day.

@Deepizzaguy Yes, I can agree with that. Was it Elon Musk who said AI would destroy us someday if we don't reign it in now?

That's really odd. I don't think AI can read our minds; but that's a freaky incident for sure. Have a great day.

Oh that is quite interesting or a bit scary. Scary that AI will have its own decision to action on things that human alone can seems to have decide.

Yes, we think we control our own lives but maybe not for long. This evil power could be our downfall.

That would be quite something if it could. I’d be pretty freaked out though.

We were both freaked out. I would hate for the phone company or government to be tuned in to our private thoughts.

It sounds very unusual and perhaps it could be, However, it could also be a fluke of some kind,
