In the good old days hot dogs used to be a frequent snack in our household. We bought bread from the bakery and remembered to apply mustard paste, butter, celery leaves and a couple of frankfurters. Where I live today we do not get hot dogs bread and so I have not had them for years. I remember that mustard paste did all the difference. How do you make your hot dogs. And why are they called hot dogs Image credit:

When I make hot dogs (not very often) I put over them mayo, avocado paste, mustard and diced tomatoes. If I have at hand I also add sourkraut.

Avocado seems to be the healthiest ingredient in there. Right?

@allknowing I use a lot of avocado as now it is not as expensive as it used to be.

@marguicha A friend of mine brought me some as they are not available here. I did not like the taste but intend to acquire it sometime.

Hot dogs ARE a good snack. We always tend to have some in the house. I eat them all sorts of ways. But mustard is usually a must. Legend has it they got their name because they kind of looked like a dachshund. Obviously they were served hot and if they looked like a dog... It was come and get your hot, dog, thus the moniker.
