There are 574 federally recognized Native American tribes in the United States. That includes 229 in Alaska. There are 6.7 million Native Americans currently living in the United States. Of this, only 22% live on reservations. The smallest Native American tribe in America is the Augustine Band of Cahuilla Indians with only 16 members. The Navajo Nation is the largest tribe in the United States having nearly 400,000 registered members and spanning 25,000 square miles in New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. The image is from my own collection of pics and such.
