The forest fires season is starting here. Of human stupidity.

I can never understand why people aren´t more careful!
While it is true that sun, heat and wind help, the first part of a grat forest fire is usually a stupic who breaks a glass bottle and doesn´t bother to pick up the glass. Or the bright dumbs who decide that, as the weather is nice, they´ll go and make a bonfire in the middle of the woods. And then they don´t know how to put it off. At least they could pee over it
.
Everywhere, not just in my country, ancient forests are being burnt every year. And it takes decades and sometimes centures for some trees to grow.
Just now, I watched a big fire near a beautiful small city near Santiago. There´s wind so we don´t know what will happen.
Stupidity is one of mankind´s mos common traits. Every winter crews of highly specialized military men lose their time trying to rescue dumb youngsters who decide that they will go hiking in the Andes. And they think that their cells phones will keep them safe. Most of the time, the rescuers arrive when it is too late. The "brillian" hikers have decided that a T shirt is enough and they die or hypothermia.
I will now go for another round of depressing news here while I wait for my friends to come and take me to Lili´s home.
See you. This is a rant.

I know how you feel since despite the many public service announcements that are on television and how we can prevent forest fires, the advice falls on deaf ears.

@Deepizzaguy Unfortunatly some of them have lots of power. Not only poor people are stupid. Some rich people can be worse.

@marguicha You are right since a punishment that is harsh will have the person committing the crime think twice.

I don´t think that stupid people really change the climate, but they sure help destroy what we have.

@LindaOHio And some of them are not only ignorant but also powerful. Take Bolsanaro, the ex president from Brazil. He did a lot to destroy tha Amazone.

In my country every summer the media says what not to do. But it is not enough.

Your mention of people making bonfires without understanding how to safely extinguish them is a stark reminder of the need for education and awareness. It's alarming how the smallest acts of negligence can result in such immense destruction. Your frustration is palpable, and your concern for the environment is admirable.

The worst is that I don´t think that they don´t understand. I think that many don´t really care.

I would punish all the people that start fires in a way that nobody would try to do it again.

@RasmaSandra Please have him do that on a concrete street so that he does not burn anything but himself.

@marguicha

you just made me imagine a guy with a burning can tied to the back of his shirt and him running like crazy and not being able to get rid of the can, That sure would serve him right for endangering others,

I did. But I woke up with a head ache that is just going away with the strong pill I take for my knees.

This last fire has consumed over 2.500 acres and has not been able to be put out yet.

I remember that last year a great number of fires destroyed part of the forest here. And I remeber that it was discovered later that many of then were man made.
