Happy Monday Everyone! it's cloudy and dreary here today.
I feel like I'm always complaining about some sort of ache or pain lately. Last night I didn't sleep well and couldn't get comfortable. Today I got up with a stiff neck and a pain in my shoulder. I sat here with the heating pad on my shoulder while I had my coffee and took two Tylenol with the hopes that I would be pain free. I do feel better but still a bit achy.
The weekend was fairly busy. The house is finally all decorated inside. Couldn't do outside yesterday because of the rain so that will have to wait.
I did manage to get a whole lot of Christmas shopping done for everyone that isn't immediate family. It was nice to be able to cross a whole bunch of stuff off my list.
I got some really nice cards for the grandkids and since they would rather have money than gifts it's just a matter now of making a trip to the bank for the cash.
Put together a tentative menu for Christas dinner (we do buffet) and trying to decide about baking cookies. The past few years I scaled down on how much I baked and I'll probably do even less this year.
Gone are the years when I would spend hours and hours in the kitchen baking all sorts of different types of cookies. Back in the old days I would give them as gifts as well as have them to serve for guests.
This year I'll just make a few traditional ones that my family love.
Do you bake for the holidays? Is there one particular thing that wouldn't feel like the holidays if it was missing?

Usually I do..the only thing I am sure I am going to make is keto peanut butter fudge though. We will see how it goes..with my weight loss goals, it is probably better if I don't this year. I might make some kind of lower calorie cookie though.

I would love to be able to cook and bake for the holidays. I'm sorry about your aches and pains. What's on the buffet menu? We could use some suggestions since neither of us is physically able to do the cabbage rolls for Christmas. Have a great afternoon and evening!!!

I'm sure your home looks lovely, all decorated for Christmas. I know you'll get the outside done too.
I've never done a lot of baking at Christmas, but there is one thing I need to make that was always on the Christmas table - Applesauce raisin bread. Mom made it every year. I found a comparable recipe. Mom wouldn't give me her recipe, so I've had to find what I could. At least it tastes the same.
Have fun baking.

no. For a few years now I usually get some kind of cake since my boyfriend's birthday is on Christmas Day. I would love to make a rum cake this year.

I don't bake for the holidays. This year, as we plan to have a bigger party for my nephew's family visiting from Canada, we may order some foods from restaurants.

I love baking. I would have loved to be one of the recipients of your cookies back when you baked a lot for friends and family. I haven’t decided what I am making yet but I do have to make some cookies to check off an item on a Christmas scavenger hunt I am taking part in.

I do like to bake for the holidays.
I have cut down and only make a few items these years.
I learned a lesson when there were so many leftovers after the years that we were not able to gather during 2020 and 2021.
I have not started just yet, it will get done in time.
This will likely be the last year that I do it all alone, maybe the girls will like to help out next year.

I have never cared for baking, but I did it. Then my son grew to love baking and took over most of it for me.

I don't bake for Christmas but Mike's Mom does.
She makes kolachi's with black raspberry and pineapple filling. She makes way too much candy and fudge. And sugar cookies. She said this year she is only making a little bit. I told her Mike and I don't want anything, neither of us need it. We are trying to watch what we eat.
