A vinyl recording of musical artist Junior Walker And The All Stars which was checked out of the Jamaica Plain Branch of the Boston Public Library which was due to be returned on October 27, 1976. The person who was supposed to return the vinyl record left the recording in the front of the library fearing that the person who was supposed to return the record would be fined as punishment. But since the library policy of fining late books and recordings is no longer enforced the return of the record. The record will now be sent to the Boston Central Library by the officials of the Jamaica Plain Branch library. The record of the artist was released in 1974. Link is upi.com/7251701727190 via @upi

I am glad it was finally returned with the person having to pay a fine. I can only guess what it would be after 40 years.

I am surprised people don’t know by now they aren’t going to have to pay a huge fine. They let that stuff go when it’s been decades. They just get excited about having a relic of prior decades.

@Deepizzaguy I wondered if there are other things that were not returned.

I find it wonderful that it was (eventually) returned and not just chucked it out like so much rubbish. I think that is a record length of time to return an item (pardon the pun). Do you know if the person who signed it out is still around or did the library also digitise memberships and now have no record of original card members?

I have no idea if the person who checked out the vinyl record is still alive or not.
