What a sweet movie. Barbara Stanwyck and Fred McMurray are great in this along with several of my favorite character actors. Beulah Bondi as the mother. If any of you recall "The Waltons" series she was in it. And, Sterling Holloway with his ski cap and odd but distinctive voice. Such a sweet storyline. A woman(Barbara) is caught shoplifting just before Christmas. The prosecutor(Fred) postpones the trial because it is hard to get a conviction at Christmas time. He feels sorry for her and arranges for her bail. He also ends up taking her home where they fall in love. There's a great scene with her preparing for a dance and the old maid of the family unwrapped what was to be her wedding dress. All the stuff women used to wear. Layer after layer. It is a great movie and fun to watch every time I see it. it has become a Christmastime must-see. The picture is from Blog Spot.
