Are You Using Alot of Products That Don't Really Help and Are Just a Waste of Money?

I enjoy watching the shopping network and many times they have people going on about beauty products. To me, and I'm no expert, many of the products on the market today don't do what they are advertised to do. Take for instance eye cream. First off the skin under the eyes is thin and they get a bluish tint as we age. Vitamin C(bleaching agent) or hydroquinone can lighten the pigment under your eyes but it should only be used if a doctor says so. These won't ease dark circles from visible blood vessels. Many times this is caused by dehydration or allergies. So drink plenty of water and treat allergies.
Other things that people do that probably aren't the best for giving us a youthful glow or looking younger are:
* Using natural oils for acne. This can clog the pores. Good moisturizers like shea butter and cocoa butter are oil-based and may not be the best to use on your face. Use benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid to treat zits.
* Vitamin supplements for skin care. Vitamins C, E, A, and B3 are important for skin health. Unless you have a deficiency these pills will give you a youthful glow. If you have dry skin, brittle nails, or bleeding gums check with your doctor who can tell you if you need to take a supplement.
* Skin scrubs. If you are exfoliating every day you could be stripping away layers of natural moisture and make your skin dry. Try applying a cleanser that is free of oil, alcohol, and fragrance, and rinse with lukewarm water. Then apply a moisturizer while your skin is still damp.

Yes regarding skin scrubs..I once made the mistake of using one too much. It was the St Ives. Now they are handy, but in reality if you are using them too much you are right, you do scrub away a necessary layer.
People really do waste money it is clear these days.
I buy nothing these days only necessities.

Some of these products are so expensive for just a few ounces.

@celticeagle I love breaking one grape in half and wiping the inside of the grape all over my face. Leave it there for maybe 15-20 minutes and rinse it off.

And Preparation H doesn't shrink wrinkles either.

Every time I give in and buy something new "as seen on TV" and the like, I end up hating myself. That includes not only vitamins and the like but also kitchen gadgets.

I know. It's as if we are wanting it easier and making it harder. I have cut back from buying 'stuff' since our 2014 purge.

@celticeagle I´m just about to throw away a gadget that I used twice. The second time, the plastic seemed to "disolve" in my hands.
Just when I was cursing I happened to notice another gadget that has served me faithfully for decades. I finished doing what I was doing in a jiffy.

No. I don’t buy $25 shampoo when $1.25 shampoo cleans my hair just as well. I will almost always buy the “store brand” instead of the more expensive name brand.

I don't use anything on my face; and my face is quite oily. Thanks for the tips. Have a good day.

I do use something but not all of the time. You're welcome. Have a good one yourself.
