Don't Touch Your Proof of Purchase!

An expert on gastroenterology, Will Bulsiewicz, MD, MSCI and board-certified says that your receipts are printed on thermal paper. This means they are covered with a thin coating of powder that develops the dye needed for the type on this proof of purchase. This powder has the BPA chemical( an endocrine-disrupting chemical that is natural or human-made and might block, interfere with, or mimic the body's hormones) that has been linked to diabetes, breast cancer, and hormone abnormalities in some children. This chemical is absorbed through the skin and so if you need the receipt have the cashier put it in your bag. Be sure to wash your hands after handling receipts.

@celticeagle I need to get into that - getting the points. At least then it makes sense to keep all those receipts or get another usage out of them anyway!

I once scratched my face. I was working with a ton of those receipts; and the powder got into the scratch. It started to work its way across my face, eating the skin as it went. Fortunately a pharmacist told my hubby to pick up some Neosporin which stopped it in its tracks! Have a good day.

Another thing to worry about unnecessarily. I haven't seen a receipt printed on thermal paper in years. All the ones I get are inkjet printed on regular paper.

Yes! It seems like you need to check your emails or whatever before you leave the house in case there are new hazards to watch out for.
