Life is Not an Open Book

I got a poor evaluation last night. A student asked for personal information, and I tend not to answer him. First things first, it is not our lesson. Second, I do not need to open up with him. Lastly, he does not have the right to ask certain questions about my life. Even if he gave me such an evaluation, I do not need to explain myself to him or even the company itself. I am a very private person in general so no I would not say my life is an open book. I have spoken with people at times about my life, but I am cautious. Yes, your work and personal life are separate and you should not explain I agree.

I am an introvert, but I can be an ambivert. If ever I am going to share something about myself, it will be filtered. I will not give the details fully. I had learned that some people cannot keep certain secrets if they are provoked.

@RebeccasFarm I agree. It sounds like I am sugar coating it.

Report this student, the company must know that he was trying to invade your privacy and this is the reason of his poor evaluation.

I did report it, but the company cannot do anything. According to them, subjective statements from a student will not be uplifted for having a poor evaluation.

@LadyDuck Yes, they do. At some point, it is still unfair. There is a lack of compassion when it comes to this kind of concern.

@Shavkat But at least they know the reason behind the poor evaluation.

These days hardly anyone is interested to know what is going on in people's lives.

It is also the same thing for me. But, some people love to gossip about others.

You can open the book without opening it. Your student wasn't trying to invade your privacy, he was trying to relate to you. He wanted to know he could trust you to teach him. When you keep your life closed, you don't give your students anything they can trust.

I did entertain trivial questions about me. But then, he asked me personal information. This is not acceptable and it can also violate the company's rule.

My life is an open book sometimes, but only with people I know for a very long time.

At some point, I do agree with that perception.

It is also the same thing. I stood firm for what I did with this student.

He thinks that he can do what he wants because he paid for the class. I am sorry to say that he cannot make me. Some virtual teachers just do amen for them, not for me.

I agree. For me, I don't open up if I'm meeting someone for the first time. It applies to this new student of mine.
