New year, new reading goal

For some years now I do the Goodreads reading challenge. My reading goal for 2023 was 65 books and I ended it with 75 books. I think I will set my new reading goal for 2024 to 75 books. I hope I will be able to reach it. I am not sure I'd have read this much if it wasn't for the Goodreads reading challenge. I think in a way it motivates me to read more. Are you setting any reading goals for this year?

My reading goal for 2024 is 72 books which is roughly 6 books a month. I already finished one last night the first one of this year. Just to be clear I was already reading it for the last few days so it's not like I read all 300-something pages in a day. In 2023 I read 102 books my goal was 100 books.

I've never done this but I wonder if starting a book at the end of the year and finishing it next year counts towards previous year or new year goals.

About 6 books a month is doable, so long as books aren't huge.

@lovebuglena I don't pick huge books. I would get bored too easily if they were super long. Like 300 pages or less, I'm okay with. Now there are some way fewer pages than that and some with 100 or so pages more typically I read short reads. I do like Novellas which are like 170 pages or less which then you could pack in more books to read. That's how I read 20 books in one month and 19 books in another month. I read Novellas. I do not have time for like Harry Potter long books. The current book I'm reading is 280 pages long. That's with out those extra pages of Author Notes and what not just the physical book.

No, but I need such a goal. I like books a lot. I usually listen to audiobooks because I can't concentrate.

I am not sure I'd enjoy listening to a book. I prefer to hold it in my hands, flip the pages, and I love the book smell.

@lovebuglena I did not, had to go to ER instead..carbon monoxide in here. I guess that took precedence over reading.

@RebeccasFarm of course, reading takes a back seat in this case.

I have read about 30 books last year, and I want to read 50 books in 2024.

That is not bad at all. Hope you reach your goal this year.

That's a good goal to work toward. I'd like to finish the book I started. I'm having trouble reading the small print. Have a good day.

I hate small print books. I wonder why they do them in such small font.

@LindaOHio I find it uncomfortable to read when the font is very small. It does put a strain on the eyes I think.

@lovebuglena It didn't bother me when I was young. Now the small print strains my eyes.
