I Didn't Make My eBay Goal in 2023

Last year I sold $4,600 gross on eBay. This year I had a goal of $6.000 gross sales. Unfortunately, I didn't make it, nor did I even make what I made last year, coming in somewhere between $4,200 - $4,300. I was very disappointed in those results, and in determining what I needed to do to make more money on eBay. I realized that when I used to have an eBay store, I was selling between $6,000 - $7,500. I used to have about 425 items listed. Now I have been running between 150 - 250 items. So I am going to bite the bullet this year and open up an eBay store again. I am hopeful that I can sell a minimum of $6,000 gross. Do you have an eBay store? Do you think opening a store will help me sell more?

I'm sorry you didn't make your goal but good luck with 2024. I hope you reach your goal this time around.

@JudyEv Thanks. I am going to work harder to achieve my goals now that I think I have figured out what the problem was. It doesn't make sense to sell on eBay if I can't make more money than what I did last year. I think the small number of listings is holding me back. Not that 200 listed items is that small for many people, but if I want to sell on eBay as a part-time income, I need to list, more items. The more you list with eBay, the more you sell.

Congratulations to you on doing so well, That leaves me with questions. What do you sell, how do you sell the stuff, and how do the buyers get the things and you the money?

I sell mostly men's and women's clothing and shoes, and collectibles...like some vintage toys and vintage small housewares. I sell the items mostly as a "buy it now" sale but I sometimes use auctions to get things sold for a low price if I have had them too long, or if I have an expensive item and I don't know how much money it will bring in. The buyer pays the money online on the eBay website, and I ship my items through the US postal service. A few days after the sale, eBay deposits the money into my bank account. Thanks for asking.

@Kouponkaren I was curious. I do not have anything like that to sell and getting items shipped would be problematic for me. Best of luck to you this year,

From the way you have talked about finding and selling things, I know you can reach your goals. Just keep that determination.

I guess it will help. YOu would know better than we would. What is the monthly fee for having a store?

I sell on ebay. I do not want a store. I just sell stuff when I am in the mood to sell stuff.

I don't have an Ebay store. But Goodwill does sell popular name brands like Kate Spade and Anne Klein clothes to Ebay to sell to the ecommerce outlet. If it doesn't sell, it returns back to the store and goes upstairs to sell. Hugs for not making your goal. There's always this year.

I have never bought/sold anything on Ebay. If you sold more with the store, and you are at a place where you can handle having it, I'd go ahead and give it a try. Maybe for a 6 month trial, see where you are at money wise, are you 1/2 way to you goal, if so continue on. If not maybe think of other ways to make the sells better.

I don't know if opening an ebay store will help you sell more because many people are unemployed. Then taxes have increased and the price of oil has gone up. Just check up with store owners if they made big sales last year before you open yours.

I don't have an eBay store. I am not sure if you should open a store.
