Both David Warner of Australia and Elger of South Africa ended their test career. At retirement Warner around 8700 runs in tests while Elger had 5400 runs. It is good decision to retire once cricketers start aging. They can spend time with family. Also selectors may not be kind and before dropping the cricketers one can retire with glory.

thanks Winterishere by test match standards Elger was a traditional batsman. A good career with 5600 runs. These days south african batsman have no defense only know knock knock and hit hit

It's always a good idea to retire while you're at the top.
