In a list of the 50 most famous women in America, she holds the second place. She was born Araminta "Minty" Ross in 1822. Her parents were slaves. Here are some other things about her: * She was an American abolitionist and social activist. * Her legacy is the Icon Of Courage And Freedom, the Face Of the $20 Bill. * She made some 13 missions to rescue about 70 enslaved people, including her own family and some friends. * She got no awards during her lifetime but Posthumous Honors Include Schools, Organizations, A Museum, A State Park, And An Award Named After Her. The picture is from National Geographic Kids. In looking for a picture of her I didn't find one of her smiling.

As a former slave, she had nothing to smile about. She was a great woman. I didn't know her picture was on the $20 bill. My $20 bill shows President Andrew Jackson.

We here in St Catharines know about Harriet... "She then began and ended her rescues in St. Catharines, Canada West (Ontario), where she moved in 1851. "I wouldn't trust Uncle Sam with my people no longer, but I brought 'em clear off to Canada," she later said." https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/harriet-tubman http://salemchapelbmechurch.ca/index.html

We need more teaching about some of the inspirational historic people like Harriet Tubman, we had not only people that were Black but also Native Americans and more. Too many people have superiority complexes and strut around feeling that they are better than everyone else, yet they still bleed if they are cut. Check out the historic figures of American History and how they helped shape the country, you might be surprised.
