A neighbor lost her parrot because of fireworks / myLot

We have a family friend and she was very upset when she visited us. She told us that her parrot died after hearing the fireworks. The parrot was in her house. It was very scared of fireworks and she didn't have time to take it to the vet. Those noises can be very scary for our pets. But people don't care so much about animals. Some pets aren't scared at all. My cats heard the fireworks and they weren't scared.

This is the reason why the Swiss Government banned the fireworks. The 78% of the population voted to ban the fireworks. I am sorry for the poor parrot.

@dya80dya I am so so sorry for her loss. It is so hard to lose our family pets. My cat tolerates some loud noises and hates others. I am sure fireworks would bother her. There are those that care about pets and those that do not. I love animals and feel it is terrible what happened to their parrot. It is sad that people cannot take time to consider what an animal goes thround and especially with loud noises. Around where I live they do not care about much at all and just want to cause a person trouble. I am looking to move from here but not easy to do.

And how can we take care of our pets during such events? I have a dog outside and he is very scared when he hears those loud noises.

It is very sad. That parrot was rescued because it was abandoned by other people.

It's easy to blame others, but the rality is... you can only take care of yourself. Many people enjoy fireworks. Weather it's setting them off or watching them. Why should others' give up what they enjoy, because it might inconvenience someone else? She should've taken the bird to the vet. But, because she failed to do so.... then she paid the price. It's her responsibility to put her animals first, not random strangers who don't know. Who want to live their lives.
