Charley Horsehead was a prolific dreamer, and he always recorded his nightly dreams every morning in his journal. He had one particular dream, a very simple one, at that, that bothered him a lot, over the years, as it had been repeating in its identical theme for him for well over fifty years. In this dream, Charley was dreaming that he went into a secondhand bookshop in his home town, near the Church, where his mother used to go, and yet the shop has never existed in reality. There is no bookshop anywhere near the Church In the dream, Charley would peruse the shop for books, enjoying the looking, but without ever buying anything there. A repeating dream theme such as this usually indicates that the dreamer has a deep underlying unresolved psychological issue. A bookshop is a depository of knowledge, and Charley knows that his answer lies in knowledge gaining, not in ignoring things, so he simply needs to remember the books that he looked at, as the name of the book will be the clue to his problem. Charley never does remember the names of the books he browses through, and so the dream keeps repeating, hoping that he will see past the tree content of the dream, to see the underlying wood type underneath. When we are entertained by stuff because of its way of occurrence, we often miss out on seeing the truth behind the curtain then too. Charley will continue to have this dream then, until, he finally accepts that the dream is not about the bookshop, but more about the message he is meant to receive from the book browsed itself. When Charley reached the ripe old age of 83, he had this dream, once more again. This time he saw the name of the book. It was the Christian Bible. He then realised that over all of these years, his spiritual side had been trying to rouse itself within him, and he had largely ignored it, preferring to stay attached to the worldly life alone, and dismissing all aspects of religious, and spiritual life. At 83, though, he thought that perhaps he should at least see what he had been missing, and so he started to study the Bible, reading it on most days. He became a Bible scholar, well versed in its words, and he was quite happy about this too, as it gave him a certain satisfaction of his connecting to something greater than himself, to God, and to truth, and so just a short time later, at 87, he died, and was able to make it into Heaven. Dreams can have a purpose especially when people have the same dream many times. I'm glad Charley finally saw the purpose of the dream and started reading the Bible. God will continue knocking on the door of our heart until we answer it and allow Him in. Revelation 3:20.

"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me." Yes, my Father had this verse on a plaque over his door at home. It was one of his favourite verses from the Bible. Yes, it is never too late to change, and to accept the Lord, and to turn our life around, for God too.

Yes, if we ignore our spirit, and our spiritual side, we will only really ever just live half of our potential life.

That is true that life without a spiritual side is empty.

It is normal to become aware when we are at the departure gate waiting for the numbers to be called at random. That draws us towards spirituality in most - the hitherto dormant seed within starts to sprout though belatedly. What we were after has to be left behind, and that is tough to come to terms with. So spirituality comes in handy to hold on to for dear afterlife!

Yes, as one's hairs grey, and old age comes upon us, we often open up more to the possibility of an afterlife, and think about the existence of god, and the purpose of our own life too. Why take a chance on not being able to get into Heaven, most will start to hedge their bets, as they get older.

@innertalks Yes, it is safer to bet on the existence of God than to be taken by surprise later. And to double up the efforts to be the epitome of best behavior. Better late than never even for the diehard atheist and others who go about with a take they are the masters of all they survey. .

@Shiva49 There is more above the Sun than meets the eye, and so much that we still do not know. The diehard scientist, only works on what they can see, and will never examine the unseen truths, then either.
