13 January - What I'm Thankful for Today

Good afternoon myLot from a very snowy landscape in Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA.
It's been a good day. The sun is shining and all's right with the world. I smile every time I look outside, which is often.
I'm thankful for the sleep I got last night. I went to bed early, before 8:30, and was awake by 3:30.
I'm thankful for spending time here with you. It's always fun seeing what you're doing in your part of the world. I now have the notifications done twice. 
I'm thankful for the walk through the halls I did this morning. I saw a few people, talked, and got half my steps. I saw they closed the community room to all activities until further notice. Lots of people are sick here with everything possible - COVID, RSV, flu, pneumonia. I was also saddened to learn a neighbor passed away last Saturday. Very nice older gentleman and an Ice Hocky Hall of Famer.
I'm thankful for the two chapters I read through today on Guns of War. I made corrections as I finally decided on the ranks of the military people in the novel.
I'm thankful I ordered groceries. I don't normally do that, but I needed them. I need to remember that leeks come in a bundle of three. I ordered three, and now have nine leeks. I need to use them before they go to waste.
Okay, that's my day. Not much going on. The temperatures are dropping. It will be single digits for the next week with negative windchills. I'm still up in the air about going to church tomorrow.

That sounds good. I fell in love with leeks the first time I had them. Now, I'll be putting them in everything, almost. I love them in eggs.
Leek soup sounds good. I'll need to look up a recipe for it.
Yes, it did. The totals are in. We got 13.5 inches of beautiful snow.

@just4him The sun is breaking through here just now in the past few minutes.
The clearing must be coming.
After that the deep freeze cold should arrive and stay for several days.
Alot of people like the taste of leeks in eggs.
Her recipe called for potatoes and was very filling.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of the older gentleman. Even though it was a life well lived there is always that sense of sadness over a loss of a human being.
It is currently 19 degrees, and boy is it cold! I'm thankful although the draft in my front door is terrible, it at least made my bottle of water by the front door ice cold this morning!

He was in his 90s, so yes, it was a life well-lived. He lived here with his daughter. I'm so sorry for her.
You have it cold there. We are currently at 16 and dropping. Our high tomorrow is 6 with windchills in the negative 20s and more. We'll be seeing that for most of the week. They're saying -20 to -35.

I am thankful for the nice weather outside and getting paid yesterday from this site and Prime Opinion surveys wo I could spend the money on buying some batteries that I need for my television remote.

Sounds like a good and busy day there. Sorry many are sick, and that one neighbor passed away.
Oh my that is going to be a cold week... I think by mid week we should be back up in the 30's

The best we'll get this week is low double digits Wednesday to the end of the week. We won't get into the 30s until next week.

@just4him That does not sound nice. Glad we will be warming up a bit. Need to to melt all this gross white stuff! Least they cancelled school again.
