What is meant by the light of God?

We should walk with God even as he walks with us

In the New Testament book of John, in the Bible, chapter 8, verse 12, says: 'Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."' Light is an energy, as is love, and light is love, as well as God, as light creates an atmosphere for truth to live in, and for love to thrive in too. Without light, the darkness could not shine forth with anything of its own, and none would see truth, only feel it from love. Light allows our mind to see, and to understand truth, even as our heart feels love within itself too. We all have God's light within us, but when we do not shine forth with this light, withholding it from the world, we will not give ourselves to the world then, and it shows that we have little love for the world then either. God's light can lift us out of our own darkness, and lighten our true path for us, so that we will then move forwards, and take it. Light lightens our life. In the New Testament book of James, chapter 1, verse 17, James refers to God, as the father of lights. There is no darkness in God, nor even a shadow, but paradoxically, we can rest in the shadow of God, and find comfort there. In the Old Testament book, Psalm, chapter 91, verse 1, says: "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." Not all people have God's light because not all people accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, the Light of the world. Those who know Jesus as Savior and Lord, His Light lives in them and they in Him. Good teaching. Have a blessed day.

Thanks. Yes, if we refuse to accept God, and his son, into our lives, we remain in darkness. Only God's light can illuminate us, and free us from this darkness. God, (and his son) his light, and his love, can all live in us, and we are lit up with the Holy Spirit operating through us too.

Well, even physical light is said to be able to heal our body, and improve our mood, so how much more could the light of God help us too.

I think that we all have both light and darkness within us.

Yes, we certainly have both the negative, and positive in us, good, and bad, light, and darkness, and it is mostly our choice how much we allow each aspect to control us in our living. Our attitude to life, can be built with lights lighting it up, or from darkness, sullenly depressing our true worth, and state.
