Arnold Schwarzenegger details at airport for wearing expensive watch

January 18, 2024 5:11am CST
Arnold was detained for 3 hours in Germany airport for wearing an expensive watch that authorities believe he wants to sell at auction in the country. Does this make sense or is it a protocol they must follow even if Arnold has no intention of selling the watch?

That particular watch actually was scheduled to be auctioned for charity while he's in the country. The issue wasn't that he was wearing it, it was that he failed to declare it when going through customs. It sounds like there were some issues with processing his payment for the taxes they needed to collect and that's why the thing took a few hours... probably would have been a lot faster if the first credit card machine had been working and he hadn't had to try withdrawing money from an ATM and dealing with banks being closed at the time he came through customs.

I see that you know exactly what happened. If it was his own watch NOT for sale, he had not to declare it.

It doesn't make sense because it is just a watch.

A watch worth $ 50,000!!! Everything over $ 10,000 MUST be declared if you want to sell it.

@LadyDuck what a law! I didn't know about that law especially at the airport.

@mildredtabitha NO matter where you enter a country in Europe you must declare values over $ 10.000 if you intend to sell them. If you won them and you keep them, it is not necessary to declare. It is anyway wiser to declare to avoid problems when you exit the country.

You got the news all wrong. He was detained at the airport because the watch had to be SOLD at an auction. As it had to be sold in Europe, he had to declare the watch because the value is more than $ 10.100.
