The Peacock painting - work in progress.

Here is the peacock painting that I've been doing. It is a work in progress and I will finish it next week. I did the background first. I started with light green and then graduated to a darker green up the top right hand corner. I added some burnt umber to the mix for some brown patches. I added some burnt umber into the lighter area on the left for some contrast in the grass. For the stripey foreground I used a mix of burnt umber and lemon yellow for the brown areas and sap green with a bit of blue in for the green areas. I added a shadow under the peacock by adding a bit of black to the blue/green mix. Then I started on the peacock itself, after the background was dry ofcause. I painted in the darker part first at the bottom with a bit of black mixed into ultramarine blue. Further up I used ultramarine blue on its own, but I accidentally got some of the black in it nearer the head, and I will have to go over that bit again when I come back to it next week. I painted in the legs in grey. I used a light grey for the leg that's in the foreground and a darker grey, by adding some more black, for the leg that's further back as it's in shadow. I painted in the head last. Now I'm going to leave it to dry and put everything away tomorrow morning. I hope you are all well. Have a great night.
