Freezing Rain

Enough is enough! After this past couple of weeks of frigid weather, now freezing rain is supposed to be coming tomorrow. Of all the bad winter weather, I hate freezing rain the most. It can cause power outages which can make survival a problem for many people. On the other hand, what freezing rain does to the trees, shrubs, and other things in nature can be truly beautiful. I remember when I was about 12 years old or so the ice covered this cluster of cherry trees in our yard. In regular weather, it looked like 5 or 6 cherry trees grew up in the same spot leaving this circular area I loved to play in. But when the ice storm hit that winter, those trees liked like a crystal palace. It was a beautiful place for a little girl's imagination. But being 68 years old now, I totally dread freezing rain because it can be so dangerous.

Pretty or not, I don't want any of it. Winter sucks. For a sec there I thought maybe we'd skip it since November and December were particularly warm. But then January happened. This morning it's one big sheet of ice out there and it sucks. Blech. lol

Is freezing rain like rain during the winter season? I'm sorry, I just asked out of curiosity for someone who lives in a tropical country since birth.

Freezing rain is in the winter, sometimes late fall or early spring, anytime the temperature is near the freezing point. It comes down as rain but hits the ground freezing immediately, making roads very slick and dangerous. It also weighs down tree limbs and utility wires which can cause breakage and power outages.

@capirani That all sounds really new to me. I would hat to experience that myself. I might even freeze because of it.

I know how you feel about freezing rain because a blackout can happen like last Tuesday when a cold rain came in the afternoon that almost knocked out my computer.
