The Cutest Thing I’ve Ever Planted

And I don’t know what it is.
Ok so for about 3-4 days in a row, I kept waking up with this strange, little “speck” in my bed. Always to the right of me. It looked like a bug, possibly a dead bug. I’ll admit it even resembled a tick. Or a strange flea brought in from a cat.
Very small, brown, shiny, and you could easily lose it in your fingernail while inspecting. But I kept forgetting about it.
By the fourth day, I woke up and it was stuck to my thigh. And I was like Oh no, IT IS A TICK!
It came off easily though, and I showed it to my mom and she started yelling and saying get that bug the hell out of this house
and why are you sleeping with bugs, etc. etc. etc.
Instead, I decided to plant it. Don’t ask me why.
I didn’t see legs on it anyway. But it didn’t look like a seed either. I just had a very strong intuitive urge to plant it.
I planted it in one of those small plastic containers they give you at a restaurant like when they give you a side of dressing or sour cream. Yep, that’s how small of a container I used, because I didn’t have high hopes at all. Poked some holes in the bottom of it, then got kinda wild & crazy and decided to decorate the whole thing with sparkles.
(Don’t ask.) I don’t know why I do these things.
I guess I just wanted it to know it was somehow special and important. I wanted to send it some positive vibes.
2 days later… I’m seeing green, my friends.
Such a small seedling.. from such a small seed (we now know it was a seed.)
And my mom was WRONG. It was not a bug.
Although I did name it Bed Bug because that’s how we first met.
This is the first time in history I have NO IDEA what I planted. Usually I have “some” clue, just by how the seed looks. Not this time.
So excited to see what Bed Bug turns out to be.
Pic is of the seedling getting some
on the kitchen window sill. There’s too much of a draft in my room right now, and this little guy is very fragile. Though I do bring it back up here at night and put it on my TV table, because I know my room feels like its original home.
Have you ever planted a seed just because you found it somewhere? What did it turn out to be?

That's the tentacle of the bug you buried in the soil, slowly reaching up from the dirt to seek you out! You better sleep with one eye open, or it may try to get you!
I don't think I've ever planted something I didn't already know what it was. I do plant a lot of tree saplings, but I usually know what kind of tree it is before I plant it.

It is not a tentacle or pentacle
Look at this cute little bugger. NOT bug. Hahaha
It fits perfectly on my new windows/window sill.
Looks like it’s checking out the lake.
Thanks Jeff1 person likes this

@Melanie_Marie Where exactly did you find this seed that you planted?

@JudyEv I think I figured out what kind of seed it is.
I like to add flaxseed meal to yogurt, pudding, cereal, etc. It’s high in b1 and really good for your heart. It also helps you get good sleep, like the nice, deep sleep where you can’t even remember your dreams.
I keep a bag of it up here in my snack drawer, and that’s when I pour some into whatever I’m eating, in bed.
There was probably a stray seed in the flax meal and that’s how it ended up in my bed.
It’s still doing great, and if it continues to do so, I should be seeing some beautiful purple flowers by Spring.
Thanks Judy

Well, it’s already opening up the little leaves during the day, and then closing them at night. So I’m thinking.. maybe some kind of flower or flowering plant (?)
Only because I’ve seen many flowers do this. We’ll see. I’m so excited.
Thanks Judy

cool. I love flaxseed too. I have had flaxseed in oatmeal before.
