Day 5 - Genealogy Genesis 5:1 This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day God (Elohiym) created man, He made him in the likeness of God (Elohiym). 2 He created them male and female, blessed them, and called them Mankind in the day He created them. 3 Adam lived one-hundred-thirty years, and sired a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth. 4 After he sired Seth, the days of Adam were eight-hundred years; and he had sons and daughters. 5 So all the days Adam lived were nine-hundred-thirty years; and he died. 6 Seth lived one-hundred-five years and sired Enosh. 7 After he sired Enosh, Seth lived eight-hundred-seven years, and had sons and daughters. 8 So all the days of Seth were nine-hundred-twelve years; and he died. 9 Enosh lived ninety years and sired Cainan. 10 After he sired Cainan, Enosh lived eight-hundred-fifteen years, and had sons and daughters. 11 So all the days of Enosh were nine-hundred-five years; and he died. 12 Cainan lived seventy years and sired Mahalalel. 13 After he sired Mahalalel, Cainan lived eight-hundred-forty years, and had sons and daughters. 14 So all the days of Cainan were nine-hundred-ten years; and he died. 15 Mahalalel lived sixty-five years and sired Jared. 16 After he begot Jared, Mahalalel lived eight-hundred-thirty years, and had sons and daughters. 17 So all the days of Mahalalel were eight-hundred-ninety-five years; and he died. 18 Jared lived one-hundred-sixty-two years and sired Enoch. 19 After he sired Enoch, Jared lived eight-hundred years, and had sons and daughters. 20 So all the days of Jared were nine-hundred-sixty-two years; and he died. 21 Enoch lived sixty-five years, and sired Methuselah. 22 After he sired Methuselah, Enoch walked with God (Elohiym) three-hundred years and had sons and daughters. 23 So all the days of Enoch were three-hundred-sixty-five years. 24 Enoch walked with God (Elohiym); and he was not, for God (Elohiym) took him. 25 Methuselah lived one-hundred-eighty-seven years, and sired Lamech. 26 After he sired Lamech, Methuselah lived seven-hundred-eighty-two years and had sons and daughters. 27 So all the days of Methuselah were nine-hundred-sixty-nine years; and he died. 28 Lamech lived one-hundred-eighty-two years and had a son. 29 He called his name Noah, saying, “This one will comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD (Jehovah) cursed.” 30 After he sired Noah, Lamech lived five-hundred-ninety-five years, and had sons and daughters. 31 So all the days of Lamech were seven-hundred-seventy-seven years; and he died. 32 Noah was five-hundred years old, and Noah sired Shem, Ham, and Japheth. People want to know their roots, their genealogy. You can go on websites to find your ancestry. Many people have found relatives they didn’t know existed and information about their ancestry, giving them a colorful description of their lives. God (Elohiym) kept a careful record of Adam’s genealogy because one day His promised Messiah would come from Adam’s line. You can find a full list of Adam’s genealogy from Jesus (Yeshuwa) back to Adam in Luke 3:23-38. Genealogies were important to the Jewish people because it proved their ancestry as a Jewish nation and pinpointed which tribe of Israel they came from. During the exile, when the Israelites returned to their land to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem under Nehemiah, Solomon’s servants couldn’t find a listing among the registry that they had ancestry with Israel. Nehemiah 7:60 All the Nethinim, and the sons of Solomon’s servants, were three hundred-ninety-two. 61 These were the ones who came up from Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer, but they could not identify their father’s house nor their lineage, whether they were of Israel: 62 the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda, six-hundred-forty-two; 63 and of the priests: the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Koz, the sons of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name. 64 These sought their listing among those who were registered by genealogy, but it was not found; therefore, they were excluded from the priesthood as defiled. Your genealogy matters. If you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, you have a new genealogy in Jesus Christ (Yeshuwa Mashiyach). When Yeshuwa returns for His people, He will not exclude you because your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. When Jesus opens the Book, your genealogy in Him is the only one that matters. Is your name written there? Let’s pray: Father, thank you for my genealogy found in You because I am Your child. Never let me forget who I am in You, as I live my life for You in everything I say and do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 23 January 2024 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

The Bible does not say how long Eve lived for, and I wonder if she was the mother of all of Adam's offspring, given that many took more than one wife in those days. According to the Jews, Adam had two wives, Lilith, and Eve. (According to Jewish lore, Lilith was the first wife of Adam. Although not mentioned directly in the Bible, Lilith has been used to explain the two contradictory versions of Creation within the book of Genesis. Like Adam, Lilith was created from the dust and the earth, making them equal to one another.)

Wow! I've never heard of her. She sounds like a demon. With her nature, it's doubtful God created her. One thing I know is that Satan can do whatever God has done. So, IF Lilith truly existed, Satan created her from the dust of the ground, mimicking God. I do not believe anything about Lilith. It's man's desecration of what God did in the Garden of Eden when He created woman from Adam's rib. Satan will use man to bring doubt on everything God did and continues to do. Yes, Eve had all of Adam's children. There was no other 'wife' for him. He certainly wouldn't have married one of his children. Have a blessed day.

@innertalks Yes, they did. It was the only way they could start the population, and with it at the beginning, the genes weren't polluted as they would be today.

@just4him Your explanation is very good. And I agree with all that you said. Adam would not have married one of his children, and yet Adam's children must have married each other in the beginning too, as there were no other people around.
