Day 6 Genesis 6:1 Now it happened, when men multiplied on the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2 that the sons of God (Elohiym) saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. 3 Then the LORD (Jehovah) said, “My Spirit (Pneuma) will not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days will be one-hundred-twenty years.” 4 There were giants on the earth in those days, and afterward, when the sons of God (Elohiym) came in unto the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. 5 Then the LORD (Jehovah) saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 The LORD (Jehovah) was sorry He made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 So the LORD (Jehovah) said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD (Jehovah). 9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God (Elohiym). 10 Noah bore three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11 The earth also was corrupt before God (Elohiym), and the earth was filled with violence. 12 So God (Elohiym) looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. 13 God (Elohiym) said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark and cover it inside and outside with pitch. 15 This is how you will make it: the length of the ark will be four-hundred-fifty feet, its width seventy-five feet, and its height forty-five feet. 16 You will make a window for the ark, and you will finish it to eighteen inches from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You will make it with lower, second, and third decks. 17 Behold, I am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything on the earth will die. 18 I will establish My covenant with you; and you will go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. 19 Of every living thing of all flesh you will bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they will be male and female. 20 Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive. 21 You will take for yourself of all food and gather it to yourself; it will be food for you and for them.” 22 Thus Noah did; according to all God (Elohiym) commanded him, so he did. God’s names: Elohiym – Mighty God Jehovah – Self-existent, eternal Hagios Pneuma – Holy Spirit – Sacred Breath, Wind God’s character: Judge, Savior Elohiym saw what man became because of sin and it grieved Him. He cannot look at sin. He must turn away from it. During Jesus’ crucifixion, He cried out to God. Matthew 27:46 About the ninth hour Jesus (Yeshuwa) cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God (Elohiym), My God (Elohiym), why have You forsaken Me?” Elohiym saw how the godly sons who worshiped Him, Seth’s children, married the daughters of men, Cain’s children, corrupting the godly line. Satan knew the promise Elohiym made to him about the Mashiyach who would redeem His people back to Himself and did what he could to corrupt mankind. Elohiym needed to restore the godly line. Therefore, He decided to destroy every man, animal, and bird with the breath of life in it. When He made His decision, only one person found grace in His sight, Noah, and his family, eight persons. He determined to save them from the flood that would destroy all flesh. Elohiym told Noah to build an ark and bring two of every animal into the ark to keep them alive. He gave Noah the exact measurements for the ark and told him what type of wood to use and how to construct it. Then Elohiym told Noah, He would make a covenant with him. You also see the Holy Spirit mentioned for the first time. Before now, He was incorporated as US. Here you see He is a sacred breath or wind. Acts 2:1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 Suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 They were filled with the Holy Spirit (Hagios Pneuma) and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit (Pneuma) gave them utterance. Elohiym’s sacred breath filled every living being. He determined to extinguish it from the earth. To do so, He would send a flood to destroy mankind and keep a remnant alive, Noah and his family, and a representative of every species to repopulate the earth when the flood abated. It grieves God when you sin. He will do whatever it takes to restore you to a perfect relationship with Him. His promise to redeem you with the person of His Son, and His blood was the only way He could redeem you. When you accept Jesus (Yeshuwa) as your personal Messiah (Mashiyach) and LORD (Jehovah), He will restore you with Jesus’ (Yeshuwa’s) redemptive blood. His new covenant will be with you as it was with Noah and his family when He saved them in the ark. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for filling me with Your Hagios Pneuma (Holy Spirit), and filling me with Your Pneuma (Spirit). Let Your sacred breath live in me as I breathe in Your Word and tell others about Your love for them. In Jesus’ (Yeshuwa’s) name, I pray. Amen. God said that even the animals, and birds, were corrupted, but then he must have changed his mind, and decided to save two of each species in the Ark with Noah, instead of him destroying all flesh, all of mankind, and all beasts, as he first said that he would do. God must have realised that Noah would need animals with him to survive after the flood, so he reneged on his total oblivion of them all.

God didn't renege about the animals. He knew the flood would kill them, so he prepared to save them to restart all life when the flood waters abated, and they could leave the ark.

Interesting story of the Great Flood. Noah built the ark from the time God told him to, and finished it in no less than 120 years giving plenty of time for the people to repent and turn to God. Thanks for the devotional.

You're welcome. It took 100 years. Yes, they had plenty of time to repent. Have a blessed day.

@just4him Acording to the Jewish Timeline and Biblical Hebraic calendar, The Great Flood (known as the mabul in Hebrew) was sent by God in the year 1656 of Creation (2105 BCE). In no less than 120 years, the ark was finished.
