New Fast Food in Uxbridge

It has been a while since I have been down to this end of Uxbridge and two things caught my eye. I didn’t even know that Wendy’s had opened in the UK. I popped inside to try a burger, but they all had cheese and on the electronic ordering thingy I couldn’t see how to remover the cheese, so I gave it a miss. Then I spotted a rather flashy Donner Kebab place, almost across from Wendy’s. I know that Germany has a large Turkish immigrant population, but does that make the food German? I have never tried a Donner and so it remained, I settled for a small Maccy D burger.

Wendy's actually serves up some really good burgers. I hope you get a chance to try one if you can find a way to remove the cheese. lol

I wanted to try their burger, weren't they the ones with the old lady asking, 'Where's the beef?' With electronic ordering there is hardly any staff

@porwest When I went in there were only two behind the counter dealing with orders already placed

@Ronrybs Hmm. And they couldn't break away? That seems like not so good customer service and not a good look.

That 's strange because here they do not all have cheese at Wendy's..shame that. Oh the Donner Kebabs love those, used to get them off the stands in Oxford. Nice you got those two new places then. Yes McDonalds the old reliable.

I think it is some sort of rotisserie meat wrapped in flat bread

I remember Wendy's in the US, it was the only fast food place I ever went (and then only two or three times), but they did sell some sort of Greek salad thing in flatbread as far as I can remember.

Did you mean you have never tried dinner or you meant kebab? I love eating kebab. Glad you have German kebab there. The ingredients could be slightly different from our local kebab.

I have never eaten a kebab. I didn't think of that, there may be different spices and such in the German one. Guess I shall have to try!

It's 'Döner', not 'Donner'. 'Donner' means 'thunder' in German whereas 'döner' is a Turkish word. The translation of 'döner' is 'turning pike'. Due to the fact that nearly 1,5 million Turks live in Germany 'döner' can be considered a German food now. "German Döner Kebab" strikes me as funny, though. Why haven't you tried a döner yet? If you like eating meat, you should like this speciality.

Wendy's makes a decent burger, hope you can get one sometime without the cheese. Haven't heard about the other place. Maybe if you try it you can let us know what you think of it.
