My doctor friend says it is normal for a senior to have bowel movements once in four days or four times in a day
What is normal is once a day. But the seniors are a privileged lot. Actually it does not have to be that way If one drinks plenty of water and eats food that has fiber in it all is well.
Have you thought of sweet potatoes? Is there anything else that helps?

Actually that's what even I was told by my daughter's paediatrician. It seems as long as you are not constipated and don't have other issues like discomfort and pain, each one of us have a pattern.

I eat a convenient diet with food quickly to make in my toaster oven, This is apparently the right thing to do for me, I have a bowel movement daily, I like sweet potatoes but have not had them in a long time,

Apple also works and so do veggies with fibers. But sweet potatoes are the best ones.
I was told by a doctor that each one of us have different pattern. Some people have it once or twice a week. And that's healthy. As long as one is not constipated and has no other issues like discomfort and pain etc, it's fine to have your pattern.
