We just had a weather alert, and in Atascadero California we may get to go see the Wizard of Oz!!!!! The National Weather Service has issued a warning for San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara counties and along the beach areas. Apparently this storm also is having thunder along with the high winds and heavy rains. You have to admire Petey. He was asleep on his fourth shelf up from the floor when the weather alert was sounded, when they announced that people should get to lower ground if they are in a high area, he jumped down and curled up in my lap!!!!! When the alarm sounded on the TV Freya jumped off her perch in the window, stomped down the hallway, and yelled at the fire alarm. (She was here for the alarm test on January 29th). Anyway, To my fellow Californians, Please be super careful. I don't want to hear you made a trip to OZ. To those inland and in other states, please also be very careful of the weather.

Kittie's ears are sensitive. They make great guard cats.

Freya is the greatest guard cat. She hears someone outside the door and she is right there ready to pounce on anyone who she senses might be meaning harm. Right now she is laying on her perch in the window watching the balcony that all the apartments face. I treasure them both.

I have to add that this morning Freya heard my neighbor (I nick named him Oscar the grouch) go by with his cart loaded with stuff, I think he's taking it to the thrift shop. Anyway, she was up in the window like a flash watching him go by and get on the elevator. During the summer when I have her window open and she can get fresh air through the screen, she seldom leaves her perch.

Stay safe. I wish you well and hope this storm passes quickly with little damage. At the very least, no lives lost.

We had a lot of wind and rain, but no tornado. Santa Barbara and Los Angeles are the areas that are getting hit really hard. What I'm thankful for is that the Marine Chopper was found and apparently the five Marines in it were still alive because they weren't still in the chopper.

Been seeing the devastation from all the storms there in California. Sorry to see it. We have loved ones who live in both Southern and Northern California. Glad your kitties know where to go to be safe.

I'm so glad I don't live in Cali anymore. The short time I did was long enough. Weather in a lot of places has been insane lately though, Better safe than sorry.

I had lived in Montana for 6 years. It was wonderful in the spring and summer, but I hate being cold!!! My EX and I had a deal, I would do the house work and he would take care of shoveling the sidewalks. Well that didn't work until....I was about 6 months pregnant and still shoveling sidewalks. I would come in the house and would comment about it being so cold. He had the gall to look me in the eye and say he wasn't cold at all. Well that night I got a pair of his under wear out of the drawer while he was asleep and stuck them in the freezer. I always got up before him in the morning, and got them out just after I heard him start up a nice warm shower. I put them on the top of his pile and slipped back out of the bedroom. I was fixing breakfast when I heard the scream. He came racing out wanting to know how his underwear got so cold. I looked him in the eye and stated that they weren't cold, that mine were nice and warm. Funny, after his under wear he started shoveling the snow. We divorced, his parents came up and got him, and 6 years later I moved back to California. We may have rain, wind, and an occasional tornado and small flood, but at least in the area I live in doesn't have 7 foot snow drifts and 28 degree below zero temperatures. Not that I'm putting down the people that do live in those temperatures, it's just that I don't take being cold well.

ha ha ha cats aren't stupid, it's like they have a 6th sense when bad weather hits or is close by to know how to hide. I keep a close eye out for bad weather & make it known that we're going to have bad weather to those that matter.
