My Third Marriage ~ Part Three

One night I happened to answer the phone and it was RK's brother. They hadn't talked for quite a while him being a newlywed and all. I set the phone down(no cell phone back then) and went to find RK. Found him and he picked up the phone where he was and I came back, picked up the phone, and happened to hear a bit of their conversation as I went to hang that phone up. It piqued my interest and I kept listening. What they said next shocked me. They were talking about the big bet they had been going on and his brother was gonna have to pay up. The bet was whether RK could get me to lose the weight and he could do the full makeover on me. It had all been a big joke and deal between him and his brother. They had been laughing through our entire marriage. It was all a big joke! Well, needless to say after that I was one pissed cookie. I kept my cool though and did not let on. But I was watching and listening. I noticed he was gone a lot and not at work. I found that he was secretly seeing his ex and also a neighbor we had that he had commented on a few months previously. He tried to make his excuses and remain in the marriage since I had a good-paying job and his job at the sawmill was being phased out which meant fewer hours. I also realized how much of our lifestyle I was financing. He was working what amounted to part-time at the sawmill and, I was working full-time at AT&T. I was paying all the bills and he was paying very little of anything. I hadn't minded or thought about it. It was a marriage after all and I thought this would be temporary. Or, so I thought. Life went on and I started to move away from RK emotionally. I found out later that he was seeing the neighbor he had commented on months earlier. He later married her and is with her to this day. We separated a few months later and I moved with my daughter into a brownstone apartment in the Northend. I had some adventures there and RK's sister and I went out quite a bit. This is where I met my final husband, DBY. His sister and I would go to the horse races on Wednesdays and then over to this country bar across from the race track later. We did a lot of fun stuff together. I miss her a lot. But, out of the blue one day, RK told her and his mom and dad that he would disown them if they didn't quit seeing me immediately. His dad and I still snuck out for lunch occasionally to catch up. RK found out I liked this country bar and he went in there and started rumors that I had a STD and a few other choice things. Yes, he was quite an ugly human being. I feel like I learned a lot from him about being a woman and about how to do certain things I had been ignorant of before we got together so I appreciated that.

Reading from part 1 I am not surprised it ended that way. I am so glad you got away from him. He was very controlling and had no respect for you. Glad you found true love with DBY.

I am so sorry he enjoyed making a fool of you. Surely this will come back to him one fine day. You were sweet and innocent and did not deserve this harshness.

He would disown his birth family? Maybe they should have disowned the conniving sob.
