Sri Lanke Aurobistro, a renowned spiritual teacher, was talking about the inner self, and how everybody's inner self differs. "Each of us has a personality, and a soul, different to everyone else." "We also have a sourcepoint of our emotions too, and this is referred to as our animalistic self, or as our inner beast, as it exhibits raw emotions, usually in an uncontrolled way." "We have an animal self, and a thinking self, but the animal self is the self which can infuse us with its energy, depending on which type of animal self that we are." "Which animal drives you?" "If it is a sheep, you tend to be docile, and meek, but if you are a lion, you might have greater strength, and presence." "A sheep will stay in its pasture though, afraid to move past itself, but a lion will roam throughout everywhere, afraid of no-one, and willing to parade its way to all others." "Emptiness never comes from an emptiness of emotion unless you are dead." "Emptiness is a mindset, based around a loss of a reason to be motivated in a giving way in life." "Keeping in contact with your animal self will ensure that you always have a source of energy to work with, depending on what type of animal self that you have." "On the other hand, though, the voice of our soul self should be heard first, before the voice of our body, mind, emotions, or personality selves, are heard." "Your soul should be allowed to make full use of all of these parts of you, without you usurping its authority, and running the show, of your life, from any one, or more, particular lower parts, of yourself." And that was all he said on that occasion to his students. Sane advice and talk. Yet at times we are so engrossed in daily affairs and stuff around us, that we start behaving in a certain way. Also, at times many of us know of right or wrong, yet we follow what we think is in our self interest. And this is causing a lot of problems in the world.

Thanks. When we allow one part of ourselves to control the rest of us, then we are in trouble. An ego in control, or a personality type ruling you, or a mind that only thinks in one rigid way, even a body type, can control us, if we have a stodgy big body, that just wants to eat, and be merry. We need all parts of ourselves working in unison to create our best life here. Self-interest is usually the way of greed, and out of control self wanting, rather than living as a part in it all, we want it all for ourselves instead. It has been said that if we neglect our spiritual side, we reduce ourselves to being reactively driven, animalistic beings, instead then. We become a beast to all around us, instead of more being like a ministering priest, serving others, and God too.

@innertalks Rightly said ! And as of today, my inner conflicts often make me more edgy and sometimes indecisive rather than external factors. Yet sometimes such phases bring clarity as well. The key is to keep ego and stress within limits.

We need not suppress the innate strength that we are born with. Then again, the nature of our experiences contributes to our personality. We need the harmony from all that defines us but we also need the helicopter view of life in general so that we chip in to contribute positively,

Yes, everything within us has its purpose for us in living more aptly our own life here. We should not let our ego be the only one to drive our car, or our beast though, as we need to mostly obey the road rules of God, to live a good life, tempered by love, honesty, and peacefulness, in living a balanced life, and not to live a life that is mostly just out of control, raging like a tempest.

@innertalks "Change what we can for the better and accept those that we can't" - gives us balance, focus, and fulfillment in our lives. And an iota of God's love inside us in abundant measure is the magic potion that transforms our lives and elevates them. Looks like we have been spurning such an outlook as ego overwhelms our thoughts and actions. The ego is the anathema to love.

@innertalks Change comes slowly from growing awareness that we can all be part of. Racial segregation was a way of life. and was even sanctified by statutes. Some places had state religions and one had to adhere to them. Some great leaders like Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and Mandela emerged to change them through peaceful exhortations.
