Day 30 – Blessing
Genesis 28:1 Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him, charged him, and said to him, “You will not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan. 2 Arise, go to Padan Aram, to the house of Bethuel your mother’s father; and take yourself a wife from there of the daughters of Laban your mother’s brother. 3 May God (El) Almighty (Shadday) bless you, make you fruitful, and multiply you, so that you may be an assembly of peoples; 4 and give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and your descendants with you, so that you may inherit the land in which you are a stranger, which God (Elohiym) gave to Abraham.”
5 So Isaac sent Jacob away, and he went to Padan Aram, to Laban the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.
6 Esau saw that Isaac blessed Jacob and sent him away to Padan Aram to take himself a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, “You will not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan,” 7 and that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother and had gone to Padan Aram.
8 Also Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan did not please his father Isaac.
9 So Esau went to Ishmael and took Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife in addition to the wives he had.
10 Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran.
11 So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. He took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head and lay down to sleep.
12 Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God (Elohiym) were ascending and descending on it.
13 And behold, the LORD (Jehovah) stood above it and said, “I am the LORD (Jehovah) God (Elohiym) of Abraham your father and the God (Elohiym) of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. 14 Also your descendants will be as the dust of the earth; you will spread abroad to the west, the east, the north, and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth will be blessed. 15 Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”
16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely, the LORD (Jehovah) is in this place, and I did not know it.”
17 He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God (Elohiym), and this is the gate of heaven!”
18 Then Jacob rose early in the morning and took the stone he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it.
19 Then he called the name of that place Bethel; but the name of the city had been Luz previously.
20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God (Elohiym) will be with me, and keep me in this way I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, 21 so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then the LORD (Jehovah) will be my God (Elohiym). 22 This stone which I set as a pillar will be God’s (Elohiym’s) house, and of all that You give me I will give a tenth to You.”
God’s name:

El Shadday – God Almighty
Elohiym – Mighty God
God’s character:
Promise maker
Way maker

Everyone dreams. Many people remember their dreams while others forget them as soon as they wake up. Some dreams are significant, foreshadowing things to come, while others remain mysterious and amount to nothing.
Isaac told Jacob to go to his mother’s brother, Laban, in Padan Aram and find a wife among his family. He told him not to take a wife of the daughters of Canaan. Then his father gave him the blessing of Abraham, the same blessing Elohiym gave him, then sent him away.
Esau heard what his father told Jacob, and knew his father was displeased with his wives and went to Ishmael and found a wife from his family.
While Jacob journeyed to Padan Aram, he came to a place to sleep. During the night, he dreamed about a ladder ascending to heaven with the angels of Elohiym ascending and descending on it. Then he saw Jehovah standing at the top and heard His voice speak to him and bless him. In the morning, Jacob took the stone he used as a pillow, poured oil on it, and blessed the place he lay, and called it Bethel, meaning House of Elohiym. Then Jacob vowed to make Jehovah his Elohiym if He provided everything he needed until he returned to his father.
How has Elohiym grabbed your attention? Did He save you from death, keep you from joining a group of people who ultimately died or went to prison, healed you or a loved one, or showed you His love through the people around you?
People accept Elohiym in many ways. No two salvation experiences are the same, but all are significant. When faced with situations beyond their control, people will make promises to Elohiym if He will bring them out of a predicament, they find themselves in. As soon as they are free of the situation, many forget their promises, but many also follow through and accept Him as their Savior and Lord.
Jacob not only promised to make Elohiym his Jehovah, but he also promised to give Him a tithe of everything he acquired.
What promises did you make to Elohiym? Did you keep your promise, or did you forget you made the promise and continued in the way you were going before the situation you found yourself in when you made your promise to Elohiym?
Promises are important. When you make your promise to someone, they expect you to keep it. When you forget, they no longer trust you. Elohiym made a promise to Jacob, the same blessing and promise He gave to Abraham, his grandfather, and Isaac, his father. Jacob knew Elohiym would keep His promise. He knew how Jehovah took care of his grandfather and father. Jacob promised to make Jehovah his Elohiym if He came through for him too. Until then, Jehovah wasn’t his Elohiym. He was only the Elohiym of his father and grandfather.
Is Jehovah your Elohiym? Do you trust Him to keep His promises to you? Has He blessed you in innumerable ways so that you know He will always provide for you? Do you show the same love to others Elohiym showed to you so they will know His blessings in their lives and trust Him too?
Share your blessings. Let people know Jehovah is your Elohiym.
Let’s pray: Father, Your promises and blessings are yes and amen in my life. Thank you for making a way for me in my difficult situations and keeping me safe in times of trouble. Help me to show others how You kept me safe throughout my life’s journey. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

I am very conscious while making any promises. I won't do it just for the sake of doing it. It is a commitment and I would commit only if I find myself in a position to fulfill it.

Esau's first two wives were Canaanites, and he took his third wife to try to please his father, by marrying a non-Canaanite. At least, he was still trying to not upset his father, as he probably still wanted a proper blessing from him too.
