Are People Different Now?

What's going on these days? It is like living on the tv show The Twilight Zone. Have you noticed a change in people over the past 10 years or so? What is happening to common sense and even any kind of stability in thought? What I mean by stability in thought is when people follow a certain way of thinking, but there ends of some change of status in the situations around them, and suddenly you can't even recognize them anymore. For example, the life situation here in the apartment complex Ilive in. People gathering to visit with each other, expressing a certain strong opinion and feeling connected by that opinion. Then something changes and now all those "friends" who were bonded by their ways of thinking are suddenly almost enemies. Politics has done this over the past two decades or so with gradual changes in people. But this that I am speaking about is more of a simple social politics. Common bonds that connect us to each other are suddenly disintegrated because something happened. To be more specific here, in this instance, for the past 16 months our building has had a manager who has run roughshod over our rights, has had multiple temper issues, and worse. He has been reported to his employer many times and nothing was done. So many people who wanted him to be out of here all bound together with mutual feelings of fear, anger, concern, etc. And then suddenly the company finally fires him, and now he is talked about like he was some kind of god here and how could they fire him, etc. and etc. He didn't do anything wrong, blah, blah, blah. And anyone who is glad he is gone, anyone who was of the same mindset as they all were previously to his being fired is now an enemy to those who are now almost worshipping the guy. What is really going on I believe, is fear of who might replace him. I get that. But this is really just an example of what I mean by stability of thought. People have changed in so many ways over the past couple of decades that it is more and more difficult to be able to trust anyone. Even people who you have been at least semi-close to over the years are now people who will fight with you verbally, if not physically, over just about anything, and you get left with the feeling of not being sure if you are in reality or some crazy dream. What do you think? Are people different now than they used to be? Are people more difficult to get to know and trust because they will change at the drop of a hat? Oh to be back in the days where friends stayed friends for years and nothing would divide them. Where neighbors looked out for each other. You would think the people who wanted this manager gone would be celebrating right now. Possibly deep down when they are alone, they might be celebrating, but when they are in the group again, they are too afraid to go against the ones who have turned their fear of and anger at the guy into worship of how wonderful he was. Take shelter everyone! People are not who they seem to be anymore.

People have definitely changed. I so want to go back to the 60s and 70s when people were polite and trustworthy, customer service was king and people weren't so stressed all the time. I hope you're having a good day.

I'm with you on going back into the old days where people had more respect than they do now, it's so dangerous & violent now you can't trust any 1.

Politics can really divide people you are right on that. I think it’s terrible. The situation with the awful manager is crazy. He sounds terrible but then when he gets fired they act like it’s such a shock and they feel bad for him etc. People are so weird!

I agree completely. So many attitudes have changed. I find people less respectful and less kind, more selfish. It's sad but it seems to be the way of the world.
