Hello all, Last night before bed I was going to watch part of this movie and go to sleep. The next thing I know I watched the whole two hours and 14 minutes of the movie. I couldn’t stop once I got in a little. I heard a lot of good things about the movie but had not got around to watching it and finally said I will take a look and if it’s not good I will just go to sleep. Well, it was good. If you have the chance to check out 12 Years a Slave I would say, see what you think. I thought it was good. It is rated R for language, nudity, violence, and sexual situations. Due to the subject of the movie, slavery, you can guess the type of those warnings. I have to say some scenes are hard to watch, so you have been warned. The film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch and many other faces you will recognize. Most of the acting was very good. As with every film based on a true story, some of the story was adjusted to keep the entertainment going through the film. Of course, I had to read up on it and it sounds like there were minimal changes from the book that was written back in 1853 by Solomon Northup. Not a lot of movies that move me to what to read the book, but this one has me looking to read the book. I usually just enjoy a movie and move on. I won’t spoil it by saying much about the movie but I will say. Can you even imagine being taken as a slave and dealing with it for 12 years before you are saved?

Sometimes I enjoy the book more than the movie as there are lots more details in the book!!

@Bensen32 That only happens to me when I'm reading a book that really doesn't pull me in! I am reading one like that now. It is also a murder mystery book so not a good choice for bedtime reading either!!

This is true but I hate reading LOL. I usually start falling asleep and takes me forever to read a book.

I have had both experiences of enjoying a movie partially and then winding up watching all of it and watching the entire movie and being disappointed in the ending, I will take a look at this movie online and see where I might see it,

Yeah, I mean I liked that movie but was not happy with myself for staying up 2 hours more than I was planning to.
