Went and got some lemon juice today, and Tom had the stew heating up in the crock pot. He took some out and put some lemon juice in it. Kind of balanced out the sweetness. 2nd round was a little better. He says he will never put Ketchup in his stew ever again. His mother used to make the stew, but he never thought to get the recipe. Made me remember my Aunt Lucille who made the best chocolate chip cookies I had ever had back then or even now. I had the recipe, but lost it. Only had 5 ingredients, and I remember the ingredients, but can't remember the amount of each. Sure wish I could, have never had any choc chip cookies like hers. Miss her.

It is made with smoked meat...Pulled Pork and Pulled Chicken..has Butter Beans, corn, onion, tomatoes, and have no idea what spices. Tom makes it..I have had Canned Brunswick and frozen Brunswick which IMO was AWFUL...but I bought them knowing Tom loved Brunswick Stew...But even HE didn't like the already made stuff.

I often rinse out a ketchup bottle and put that in a stew. I'm glad the second lot was better.

I never really thought of putting ketchup in stew. It sounds like you guys figured out the secret for this recipe.

My sister use to make the best cinnamon buns. She would just whip they up without a recipe cause she made them so often. She passed away two years ago and i often wish I knew how she made thwm.
