It's finally Friday and I should be thrilled but I am just not feeling it today. Emotionally I am not doing well. I have not slept good at all this week. I never got more then a few hours sleep every night. I am physically and emotionally exhausted. I just got too much on my mind these day so as soon as I try to sleep my mind starts working overtime. Maybe if I get some sleep tonight tomorrow will be a better day. Any tips on how to shut my mind off and get a good night's sleep?

Have you tried repeating a word over and over and bringing your mind back to that one word (or thought) any time it wanders? I know it's not easy but I hope you find some relief soon.

Reading before bed sometimes works. I also used to keep a pad of paper and pen or pencil by my bed. If I thought of something I needed to do, I would write it down. Then I could fall back asleep. Hope you feel better soon. Enjoy your weekend.

Thank you. The notebook beside the bed is a great idea. I might try that.

@Happy2BeMe I would do it, if you have a problem...some are free. Or you could get a soundspa or something. Anything is better than tossing and turning. I hate that. I usually knock myself out with OTC stuff. I do have a prescription med, but I don't take it all the time.

I hope you can sleep. My doctor gave me a nerve pill prescription. It helps me relax more at night. I do the same as you are. At bedtime is when I seem to think of everything

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through a tough time. Getting quality sleep is crucial for overall well-being. Here are a few tips that might help you relax and improve your chances of a good night's sleep: Establish a Routine: Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day to regulate your body's internal clock. Create a Relaxing Bedtime Ritual: Engage in calming activities before bedtime, such as reading a book, taking a warm bath, or practicing relaxation exercises. Limit Screen Time: Reduce exposure to screens (phone, computer, TV) before bedtime, as the blue light emitted can interfere with the production of the sleep hormone melatonin. Create a Comfortable Sleep Environment: Make your bedroom conducive to sleep by keeping it cool, dark, and quiet. Invest in a comfortable mattress and pillows. Mindfulness and Meditation: Practice mindfulness or meditation to calm your mind. Deep breathing exercises can also help relax your body. Limit Stimulants: Avoid stimulants like caffeine and nicotine close to bedtime. Opt for a calming herbal tea instead. Write Down Thoughts: If your mind is racing with thoughts, consider keeping a journal. Write down what's on your mind to help release some of the mental clutter. Seek Support: If your stressors are overwhelming, consider talking to a friend, family member, or professional for support. Remember, it's okay to seek help if you find yourself struggling consistently. Prioritizing your mental health is crucial. I hope you find rest and that tomorrow brings a better day for you.

Meditation can help, even if started with a timeframe of 5 minutes only. You can try reading books, making a drawing or watching your favorite TV show. Else, you can just start writing about some of your favourite things in a notebook or a diary with some doodling thrown in. Still I understand that all this can be difficult to do at times. There are too many demons in our head at times. Best of wishes !!

Take a deep breath and relax your mind, or find a way to distract it. You can do this. I'm sure of it. It's the weekend. And, no matter what, tomorrow is a clean slate.
