Broke Through the Plateau

From the summer of 2021 until the fall of 2022, I lost 80 pounds. Even though I was doing my mostly KETO with modifications diet, I wasn't yet losing weight. I could feel my body getting healthier, though. The KETO "experts" who understand how this diet works, all said that the body often has to heal inside before the weight starts coming off. But what really helped me the most was that I got my DaisyMae American Eskimo mix dog. Dogs need walked and exercised, so I took that opportunity for my own minimal exercise. When I am in a position to have to walk much, I use my wheelchair. So, Daisy and I would go around this large apartment complex averaging two trips a day weather permitting. The weight started dropping fairly quickly.
But in the fall of 2022, the massive stress began and my weight loss plateaued with a small range of 6 lbs. either way. Since then, I have been stuck in this plateau. No matter what I could not break out of that weight range. I do believe the stress had a lot to do with it, however, something else needed done.
Last month I bought one of those aerobic stairsteps to help rebuild my leg muscles. I wrote down my weight the day I got it and 3 weeks later I have lost 5 lbs. which broke through that plateau. It also got me to the lowest weight I have been at since the 1980s and 90s. I needed the stairstep to help me get stronger so I could easily climb the short stairs at the house I want to buy, but I also knew that it should help me with the weight. I still have a very long way to go, but now that weight is on the way down again. I have not even used it all that much. I wanted to use it daily, but it is more like maybe a couple times a week. What can I say? I have gotten lazy in my old age.

You're doing things in a healthy way. Daily exercises is good, but if you're adding something new (like the stair stepper) you need to work yourself up to that daily goal. Keep challenging your body and you'll lose weight.

I've been trying to do more exercise lately. I eat very little really but the weight always stays about the same.
