Our real self cannot be our real self on its own

Only God gives us a reason to live

Being your real self, is not about becoming who you believe that you are. Somebody once told me that all suffering comes about because we are not fully being our real self. Of course, this might be true, if we are pretending to live a life different from who we really are, but it is a bit of an exaggeration though, as even when we are completely our real self, we still can suffer. Suffering is a part of life, which stretches us to grow into more of who God wants us to be. Our true self is not a fixed commodity, as it grows in us, and so our true self is always growing wiser in its being of itself, but only if it is being the self that God created it to be, and so is growing from this self, into a greater being that God wants it to grow into too. "What you believe yourself to be, you are." Claude M. Bristol, (1891 to 1951) an American writer said this. And yet, this type of self-belief is empty, if that is all that we think of self-belief. Self-belief needs to be expanded to include God-belief. Real belief includes God within the belief, and then, we think more of what God wants us to be, we believe it too, and so we become what God wants of us, not what we ourselves alone want of ourselves. Real self must include God within our self too, as we can never be our real self without connecting ourselves to God. Only God gives us a real reason to live.

God made each person different for a reason. So we should always be true to ourselves.

Yes, each person is made different than other people, for God's reasons, as he has different purposes for every person too. I would rather be true to God first, than true to myself first, as some people in being true to themselves, put themselves first over God, and develop a big ego, thinking too much of their own importance. We can do nothing on our own without God's input into it too. We cannot even connect to others properly from our real self, unless we connect to them via our God connection in us too. We connect best from the love within us, and the core of us is this love, and this love is God.

When I was depressed on something, I am not in my real self sometimes.

That is true l think, as our real self is always happy, and when we stop being real, it makes us unhappy, and depressed, too. Happiness is a natural part of our real self. Happiness is our natural state. God tells us to live joyfully and happily, and to live a joyful life, as best as we can, by our being real, and living as our real self, for God.

While belief in God gives solace, I have seen a few who carry on helping others in need. Some look to be comfortable doing what the inner prompt and conscience help them make their choices in life. They do not follow organized religion. They are more individualistic but at the same time have meaningful lives.

What they do not realise, or want to accept, though, is that that inner prompt, and conscience, is linked to their soul, which is linked to God, so when they help others, by following inner prompts, they are indirectly serving God, as well as helping others too. When we are bigger than just ourselves, and help others, we give greater meaning to our lives then too.

@Shiva49 Having an inkling of what is the right thing to do, is making a connection to the right person, in our hearts, to God, and to our soul.

@innertalks Their general take is helping others is the right thing to do. Yes, the inner conscience is planted by our creator.
